November: “We must empty Purgatory!”

The goal of the Saint Gertrude Purgatorian Society is “to empty Purgatory.”

November is the traditional month to especially pray for the suffering souls in Purgatory. All Souls’ Day is celebrated on November 2 – opportunities to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass are ample, for that Sacrifice on Calvary, on the Altar, won our Salvation!

These poor souls need our prayers since…

What is the Catholic Teaching on Purgatory?

From the Catholic Catechism of the Catholic Church, we learn that:

1030  All who die in God’s grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of Heaven.

1031 The Church gives the name Purgatory to this…

Here is a beautiful prayer to Our Lady by Saint Faustina, who was blessed to see Our Lady in person.

“O Mary, my Mother and my Lady, I offer you my soul, my body, my life and my death, and all that will follow it. I place everything in your hands.

O my Mother, cover my soul with your virginal mantle and grant me the grace of purity of heart, soul and body. Defend me with Your power against all enemies, and especially against those who hide their malice behind the mask of virtue.
