Poliigon Texture Tips?
So I bought a subscription to Poliigon. Which is basically site with all the textures and stuff I could ever want. I’ve created a beautiful folder that's perfectly labeled, separated and easy to sort through. I’ve used some credits for some things that looked really fun to play with, but mostly I’ve just browsed the free section and snagged up what I can get.
The thing is...
I’ve just been downloading EVERYTHING at 6k. I feel like this was a mistake. I imagine a lot of these textures are going to be attached to objects that aren’t even going to be close to the focal point, which sounds like overkill and that it’ll slaughter my render times.
Does that mean I’m wasting my time downloading/sorting everything now before I have a project to use them on? Since I don’t know what Resolution I’ll need them at. Or does it matter? Will it indeed rek my render time? I’m very new at this so this is probably a no-brainer to most of you. >< Just wanted to know if I should stop now and only download textures when I’m going to use them or if I should keep going and snag all the ones I can get while I’m in the mood.
