I kind of think Strange New Worlds is bungling Jim Kirk. I mean, they’re working on the relationship with Spock, and they didn’t fall into the JJ Abrams trap of misreading him as a womanizer, But I keep thinking that the writers have just latched onto Carol & David Marcus as the thing they’re going to hang his whole character on. I get it. Wrath of Khan is full of big moments to call back to (or in this case, foreshadow,I guess), but that’s the mistake JJ made in shoehorning Khan into Into Darkness.
I don’t know. Maybe I’m just an old out-of-touch Gen X fan. But if OTOY can include Gary Mitchell in the video that made Spirk canon, surely it’s not out of line to expect him to be acknowledged in Strange New Worlds. He’ and Bones McCoy are Kirk’s best friends and crew mates aboard the Farragut.
Also? Kirk is supposed to be YOUNGER than Scotty! C’mon man.
