I love that the invention of the pointe shoes can’t be traced to a single individual / group, instead like art itself it was created with multiple different individuals adding their own expertise to improve it!🩰
Let's see if I still remember how to do this...
Hi! For how long have you been doing ballet and when did you start pointe work? All the best💕
Hi!
I've been doing ballet for almost 2.5 years, and i started going to pointwork class like... 1.5 years ago? or something like that? I did not start with pointe shoes, but I just took the class to gain strength and coordination for a while (this class was not my usual class, it was an extra after my class 2 times a week). Then I got my pointe shoes like a year or so ago (I think) and I took the last half hour of the class on pointe with a few exercises on the centre. And finally last week I started to take the full class on pointe (because my teacher suggested it, I think I would never had the guts to try it), and it was SO HARD and tiring and I loved it.
An extra note: I have always asked my teacher if I could try it, that’s why I took pointe class. Nowadays I take my usual ballet class everyday, and the pointe class once a week. I hope soon try it twice a week. Remember that it is different for everyone, and that you can always work towards any objective!
What is your opinion on ballet, especially pointe work?
I respect ballerinas and I think ballet is as difficult to master as Martial Arts, and is just as beautiful.
