I've always wanted to make a version of Akatsuki Kakashi that's super chill and doesn't hide behind a mask or his Sukea persona
Reading porn while out bijuu hunting? Well, of course. The last chapter ended on a cliff-hanger, so he's not just going to stop
He's always late to missions so his partners get stuck with the heavy lifting, and when they start to sweat that's when he shows up, fashionably late, and Deals With It
No one partners with him for too long. He's too unreliable, and any time they try to start a fight, Kakashi brushes them off. He doesn't kill his partners, but he's not... the best for a stable work environment.
Obito's hands-off with Akatsuki at this point, trusting Nagato with the worst of it. No sense dirtying his hands until things get serious. Imagine his surprise when he stops in to see Kakashi Fucking Hatake bunking at their hideout. Telling Kisame about the torrid love affair in his latest romance novel, indulging in Deidara's bomb obsession (drawing faces on all the clay figures that Deidara did not give him permission to draw).
When teams need to be shuffled because Kakashi's being... Kakashi, of course Obito slips in with his Tobi persona to see what's really going on. They're partners now, and Tobi can be just as difficult, so why not put them together? No better way to spy than right at the target's side.
So why the hell does Kakashi already know it's him behind the mask?
Or, in a role-reversal AU, it might be fun to just have him there, bare-faced and perfectly comfortable in his skin while setting himself against Konoha. Like, when the kids and Kakashi met Tobi for the first time while en route to Sasuke, how differently would it have gone if Obito didn't bother to hide his identity? That, but Kakashi. And last time they met, Kakashi was a traumatized, brainwashed kid with an eternal stick up his ass.
Now he's reading porn. And a missing-nin. And cracking lame jokes.
Also, hey, that's Obito's eye, and if Kakashi's not going to put it to any good use, then he'd damn-well like it back.
