The DC-3 is like the one good airplane McDonnell-Douglas ever produced. It’s like the one guy at the family reunion with a partner and kids and a house and a stable job. And the entire rest of the DC family are all methheads, murderers, etcetera etcetera.
Except the DC-9. The DC-9 is the equivalent of a guy who’s a crippling alcoholic but is managing to keep it together. Sure he gets off work and immediately gets blackout drunk and sure he lives in his bachelor pad all alone and eats takeout for every meal, but he’s up to date on his bills, isn’t going to get fired, and only got the one DUI that one time.
The DC-10 is a serial killer who is currently doing life without possibility of parole.
I got recommended your blazed post. Do you/have you drawn other military aircraft, or are you mostly just into fighters and/or Top Gun?
Hello!! I have drawn a variety of military aircraft (though I will definitely admit I’m a bit partial to the fighters, f18 is one of my favs) but I’ve also drawn stealth/surveillance aircraft, reconnaissance planes, helicopters (a few times now!), bombers…I feel like the military areas I haven’t delved into much yet are cargo planes though that’s on the list.
If you want to have a look, you can search through my “Just Plane Monday” tag, that has almost every plane I’ve drawn for the last 2ish years. The calendar has a reconnaissance and stealth plane featured in it as well as fighters and general aviation aircrafts—I try to keep a good mix!
Thank you for the question! ✈️🩵
Pilot anon. It's hilarious you went there, because my love of planes and motorcycles comes from my grandfather.
But I was thinking maybe Tommy's dad wanted to be a pilot, but couldn't for some reason. Maybe he had some medical thing that disqualified him. Maybe he couldn't handle the training and washed out.
Ok so at first I wanted to go with Tommy’s dad but then i remembered that in 7.10 he admitted that his dad wasn’t someone nice.
But I could see him wanted to excel in something that his dad failed at in a way to get one over his dad
Like maybe it was something that bounded them until Tommy was old enough to become Tommy and not just “his dad son” and his dad didn’t approve and started to be his asshole self
Years later he has a chance to not only go back to something that he does like, even if it was shown by somebody he despises, but he also can learn to get something his dad never could, to be better than his dad and what a revenge that is
infodump is an u t i l i t y. Also that codename is obv. purposely put there: "we're Tacitly agreeing to not mention it looks like a piece snapped out of a molded sheet without trimming the edges down where the little connects were. It is ultrasecret so @least we only have to keep a straight face to some generals when they show up."
Omg, you’re right on the money with the plastic-model-parts analogy!
According to Wikipedia, Tacit Blue was nicknamed “The Whale” and also referred to as an alien schoolbus. Somehow looks even weirder from the side, with its short little duckbill, tiny wings set so far back, and where do I even start with that tail? Looks like you asked a child to build an airplane, only said child had never actually seen a plane before, and had decided to build one in Minecraft.
However, it was just a flying testbed for new technology, I guess its design also helped inspire the B-2 Bomber, which is also bizarre-looking albeit in a much more elegant way.
They both look pretty Sci-Fi, but old Blue is more of the 1960s-low-budget-Star-Trek variety, haha. You know, I think I just convinced myself that I actually love Tacit Blue, the low-poly-Beluga-whale that she is. Maybe a chick will be named after her in the future!
I also learned she has a “sister” of sorts, the Lockheed Have Blue. Both Northrop and Lockheed were competing for the same government funding to design the stealthiest plane possible, with Tacit being Northrop’s contribution and Have being Lockheed’s. Lockheed won the contract, and while the Have Blue was just a prototype, the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk (the first was aircraft with stealth technology) eventually developed from it.
Have Blue’s concept art (left), the real thing (right)
The Lockheed L-117 Nighthawk. Apparently having all these weird angles and odd silhouettes make it less visible to radar. Without sophisticated computer controlled “fly by wire” systems, all of these odd-shaped planes would literally be unable to fly, aerodynamically speaking. Unlike conventionally-shaped aircraft that can glide safely and even land without power, if these things were to lose all their engine power they would tumble out of the sky like rocks.

It felt like Isayama was trying to do a mini version of the chapter 100 scene with Reiner and Eren but with the 104th instead, except it doesn't work nearly as well. Eren and Reiner briefly saw eye to eye as a man who had committed terrible atrocities and a man who was about to do the same which is what made it so impactful. Besides the raid on Liberio all the 104th has done is fight against a Fascist regime so the sentiment is completely lost when they try to level with Reiner like Eren did.
I really enjoyed what @linkspooky said on this topic during the podcast. I’ll link to it here. Her point was that having characters suddenly switch talking in theme is extremely tacky, but the theme itself is a good one. even as didactic was it was in presentation. Being willing to share the blame isn’t a problem. While there are obvious degrees to their crimes, they are all in fact mass murders. Being able to acknowledge that they have all done wrong things feels essential to ending the cycle of violence. I just wish it was more naturally done.
Thanks for the ask!
The plane landed on the family's private lot without incident and everyone takes the time to collect their things and go. Penelope grabs her items and storm out without saying a word to anyone, while everyone just walk down afterwards. Matt holds his bag close to his chest and faces the mongoose. "Colette, I am so sorry for what just happened in there."
“Stop apologizing, Specs. You did nothing wrong.” Colette gathered her luggage and followed the rest of the family.
Penelope was being her usual pouty self after operations. No cause for alarm. Everybody was deathly silent as the plane landed, no doubt shocked from whatever her other self said or did.
“That’s right, I never explained the whole two-soul thing to you, did I?”
hey this is your captain speaking. can everyone hold on real tight for a sec. i want to try something
