Female workers assemble a Japanese Showa L2D (Naval Type 0 Transport Aircraft). The L2D was developed at the Showa Hikoki Design Bureau based on a licensed American Douglas DC-3. The Allies codenamed the L2D "Tabby" 1943

The DC-3 is like the one good airplane McDonnell-Douglas ever produced. It’s like the one guy at the family reunion with a partner and kids and a house and a stable job. And the entire rest of the DC family are all methheads, murderers, etcetera etcetera.
Except the DC-9. The DC-9 is the equivalent of a guy who’s a crippling alcoholic but is managing to keep it together. Sure he gets off work and immediately gets blackout drunk and sure he lives in his bachelor pad all alone and eats takeout for every meal, but he’s up to date on his bills, isn’t going to get fired, and only got the one DUI that one time.
The DC-10 is a serial killer who is currently doing life without possibility of parole.

Forgot I had some carbon transfer paper laying around so I gave some new life to an old DC3 sketch and a limited color pallette. Tried recreating the harsh light/shadow effect this lovely bird is presented in at night at my favorite little plane museum. Had a little inspo from a tshirt I recalled seeing, will post that in a bit if I can find it again. :]
Used some old architect drafting stencils to block out some kind of design effect to make the background less boring. :]
Amsterdam-Schiphol airport, 25.6.1938, dominated by the Deutsche Luft Hansa Focke-Wulf Fw 200 V2 Condor (D-AETA) Westfalen. Alongside it is a Fokker-assembled Douglas DC-3 (PH-ARZ) Ijsvogel of KLM, then a Deutsche Luft Hansa Junkers Ju 52/3m. To the left is Curtiss T-32 Condor (G-AEZE) of International Air Freight and to its right a KLM Lockheed Super Electra (PH-APE) Ekster. For more, see my Facebook group - Eagles Of The Reich
