Jonathacula sharing a body
@animate-mush gave me some prompts for tropey Dracula fic here
At long last, after many months of playing games with his solicitor, after coordinating with the Slovaks and chartering the Demeter, Count Dracula was on his way.
The cool dirt smelled familiar around him as he woke, but the creak of the boat and the splashing of water told him his journey was well underway.
With a self satisfied smirk, Count Dracula relaxed into the dirt. His plans were all coming together. Soon he would emerge from the dim box to feed and terrorise, and a new era of conquest would begin.
Then, a voice - clear and loud like speaking directly into his ear.
âDark in here, isn't it?â
Dracula yelped and jolted. He smacked his head into the lid of the box, right on his fresh wound on his forehead.
The voice chuckled. Again it spoke, as though lips were almost brushing his ear, but there was nothing there.
âSurely you recognise your good friend.â
Dracula turned into mist, seeping out of the box into the unlit hold of the Demeter. He cast his eyes about, and they glinted in the darkness, but could see nothing but his boxes of dirt.
âReveal yourself!â he commanded, stretching out his hand imperiously.
To his horror, Dracula's outstretched hand turned, of its own accord, and waved back at him.
Dracula's face turned into a rictus.
âWhat have you done?â
âMe?â Jonathan's voice echoed through the Count's mind, reflecting off of centuries of memories and untold powers. âWhat have you done, Count? No, don't answer. I know, now. There is no fog of fear or propriety holding me anymore.â The power that held Dracula's hand in place crept along his arm, his shoulders, down the full length of his body until it wrapped around his legs. Not by his own will, Dracula took two steps forward.
âIt's incredible, isn't it? The latent skills that are awakened at the edge of death,â Jonathan said. âAnd you took so, so much of me into yourself.â
âI have fed on humans for centuries!â Dracula hissed. âThis has never-!â
âWho said I was human?â Jonathan asked in Dracula's ear.
He was held frozen by this unknown power, yet still he trembled.
âWhat do you want?â Dracula hissed.
âAt present, our goals align, Count.â Jonathan was as charming as ever.
âWe both wish to arrive in England safely.â
That was not Dracula's only plan for this ship and its inhabitants. Soon, he would pick them off, one by-
âBut I won't abide by you harming the crew,â Jonathan said lazily.
Power enough to control his body, and to read his unspoken thoughts as well?
âAnd neither of us wish to spend a few centuries on the bottom of the ocean with only each other for company, do we?â
His body took another step towards the ladder that led to the deck
âNo!â The word was ripped from him.
Jonathan's hold on his body relaxed.
âWell, then. Should you behave, then we will be in for quite a pleasant journey together, I think.â
âBut Count,â Jonathan said, a smile evident in his disembodied voice. âYou do so love to play host.â
