Story in caption. Week 5 - Pixie Parasol (#funguary week 1)

After my previous notes from the central Dungeon Corp. R&D center, it was time to move on. Can you imagine my amazement when I heard that there is another of their R&D facilities hidden in the secluded valley of fungi and myconids? I had to go there again! So I traveled for most of this week. It is so amazing to be back! Has it really been an entire turn of the time wheel since I was here? This valley is full of myconid wonders waiting to be explored! Today I learned about a myconid called ‘pixie parasol’. Like with most fungi, the real mycorrhizal individual lives hidden from the eye. But its fruit bodies are strikingly beautiful, resembling a blue eye. Their smell is intoxicating to the local pixies. Enthralled by its smell, the pixies dance with them all over the place, performing the wildest aerial acrobatics. Amazingly, the fruit body not only looks like an eye, but seems to function similarly, somehow sending information back to the mycorrhizal fungus it grew from. Once the pixies pass over an auspicious habitat, it discharges spores, thus opening new areas for fungal colonization. I believe DC’s R&D are looking to exploit this organism and its innocuous looking fruits as long-distance reconnaissance organisms for their dungeon keeping clients.
