SKETCH - I’m beginning to use my sketchbook less because people have been wanting to buy the sketches and finished inks. #nudgenudgewinkwink So I drew this on bond paper. Which makes it easier for me to draw on from any angle with no sketchbook stuff getting in the way. It’s pretty common that animators and tattooers use these #prismacolor #colerase pencils. I started a few years back and LOVE using them. . I try to be more loose with my #sketches. Also over the years, I know where I’m going to put lines or feather a shadow. Plus I’m impatient. . I’ll scan the sketch and then I’ll print it onto #bristolboard. I have a crappy black & white laser printer (HP Laserjet P2035) that only print onto 8.5x11 paper and it’s PERFECT! You’re not supposed to run bristol through it but I did anyway! . From there my sketch is now on the bristol. I didn’t have to lightbox it. I’m tired of doing that. I tighten up the sketch with a regular HB pencil & make indications of what will get feathered. I’ll make notes as to what circle template I used to get a shape. Then I’ll scan it because I’m neurotic. . Then I ink it. You can see the whole process in the video @ATTACKPETER posted. I used a #drybrush technique to get the coarse hair effect. Everything else was #inked with a brush or a pen. . I scan it at 600dpi and colored this in photoshop. . Sat morning is for Star Wars sketches. Taking this time off from the convention scene to work on a new style for commissions. These were done with Faber Castell Pitt pen "F" tip. Really liking how the ink flows from the tip I love these pens but have spent years with just the "S" tip, it's fun trying out new things.
