A can of west coast critters and crustaceans. Featuring: Pisasters, Dungeness Crab, Glass Sponge Reef, and more! I finished this piece on stream a couple weeks ago, but haven't been able to post it until now because...... IT'S HANGING UP IN AN ART GALLERY RIGHT NOW! Which I personally think is freakin awesome. Having art in a gallery has been one of those "real artist" goals that I've had for a long time, and thanks to our local LGBT+ organization doing a Queer Artist Showcase at one of our local galleries as part of our Pride celbrations, that gets to happen! I haven't posted this yet because it has meant to much to me to be a part of this that I wanted to do something special for it. Our doors just opened for our 2019 Pride Opening Celebrations! And so.... Here is a Canned Otter! I shall post a photo of the final, framed piece that is hanging in the showcase tonight. There was too much glare from the windows when we were hanging all of the art to get a proper photo.
"I grew up playing on the beach at my family's waterfront cabin on the Hood Canal in Washington, so the ocean, tide pools, and salt water was a huge part of my childhood. As I got older I knew that I wanted to help protect places like that so that future generations could find the same kind of adventure and experiential learning I did as a child. Because I work with K-12 students so much, I try and make sure that I'm an environmental role model to them."

Pisaster is a genus of starfish, and I just... what a good genus name. It makes me think of disastrous Pi Day experiences. Delightful and hilarious. Pisaster. Pi disaster.
