âIâm here as a sacrifice, as promised by my people.â //for pirate!Dylan
@gentle-hearted
Yes, that had been the arrangement. A sacrifice to spare the villagers, to have mercy. One life over the lives of many. Had it been a hard decision to make?
Her aura burned in its brightness. He found he couldn't look directly at her yet, and so focused his eyes just slightly right of her face. Fear warred with other emotions, each one stabbing outward, but underneath it all he could see the purity of her soul.
He exhaled and forced his dark eyes from her aura to finally look at her fully. She was small, little more than a child, made smaller by the two pirates flanking her so she couldn't run. Two large men to guard one little girl. Dylan gave them a single, sharp glance and they backed away. Only then did he speak to her for the first time.
"Did they tell you what it means t'be a sacrifice? Did they tell you about me?"

Standing alone upon the small foredeck at the prow of her ship, Alanna took in a deep breath of salty sea air and grinned ferally. The winds were with her, speeding the Diamond's way even with half-furled sails and whipping the petite woman's wild curls about her face.
Today would be a good day, she could feel it.
As the dawn broke over the eastern horizon, she spotted her, the Linnet, right on time and right on the exact trade route expected.
âShip ahoy!â The call came from the crowâs nest, and Alannaâs grin widened. Time for action.
This was going to be fun.
âLower the sails fully and hoist the colors, boys!â Alanna ordered jovially, and her men went to work doing as their captain commanded.
The Diamondâs version of the Jolly Roger made its way up to the top of the mainmast, the image of a leopardâs face mid-roar in the gold of desert sands upon a midnight blue background flapping almost gaily in the wind.
Today they would show mercy.
As long as the crew of the merchant ship gave easy access to the valuables they carried, there would be minimal bloodshed and no lives lost. This was usually the case. Merchant ships might have a soldier or mercenary or two aboard within the crew, but that wasnât good security against a full crew of bloodthirsty pirates like those aboard the Diamond. So Alanna had no expectations that they would need to shed many âinnocentâ sailorsâ blood today.
âPut on your best game faces, boys! Ready the gangplank!â
So excitedly focused on her prize was she in these early morning hours that Alanna didnât notice the other ship approaching from the opposite direction.
Brie has been enjoying her day at the beach, even though her father hated her being away from their property, since there was always a lot of things he attended to, and needed her by her side to be nothing more but a pretty face and present her to other people. But the rebellious side of her made her leave early in the morning down towards her favorite beach, it was such a sunny day at St.Martin that it would be shame to spend it between four walls.
She was walking down the beach with Marry, her maiden but also a close friend, someone whom Brie trusted completely. Her steps slowed down however as she spotted a body on the shore; it was visible right away he wasnât sunbathing, his legs were still in the water, and he was lying face down in the sand. Looking at Marry confused, she rushed with her towards the body, and carefully turned him onto his back, and first checked if he was alive still. âHeâs breathing.âBrie was down on her knees next to him, her dress getting wet, and dirty from the sand, but she didnât care. As she looked over the man, the outfit that was torn and bloody, the scratches and bruises on his body, he looked like no other man she saw on the island before, and she realized then who he actually was, and what should she do. âMarry, go find Matthias and Pedro, they are by the docks, I saw them earlier. They need to carry him towards the fisherman hut.âshe murmured, brushing the mans hair out of his face so she could take a closer look at him. âYouâre going to be okay...â
Tina rubbed at her face. This day had gone too fast. But she was free. For now, she was finally off that damned ship. She shuffled through the small, quiet town. Over her dress was a burlap shawl sheâd found upon entering the marketplace. Creatures, human and beast alike, meandered and pushed past her. She scanned faces, searching for any familiar features. The longer she found none, the more confident she became. Not calmer, but confident.
She slid into an alleyway, never more grateful for the musty smell of garbage. It surpassed the wooden, stale scents of the pirate ship sheâd been trapped on for...how long had it been now, months? Time had become a nuisance for some time now. Tina ran a hand through her hair, feeling the greased, brown locks fall down her shoulders. She was in desperate need of a bath...the swim to shore had been unkind to her. But first, she needed a change. A queenâs attire was nothing to wear in the open.
Her shoes caught a fine price by a elder vendor, who gave Tina just enough pay to purchase a loose blouse and pants. She managed to weasel a small ration of lather for her skin and hair as well. With a stroke of dumb luck, she managed to convince a younger vendor to direct her to the public baths. Unsanitary as they were, Tina needed to scrub off some of the sea salt and sand. Hopefully, with cleaner hair and clothes, sheâd be unrecognizable. Thanking the young man with what she had left, she headed to the outskirts of town.
True to the younger vendorâs word, a public bath was nestled between two large buildings. She was thankful there was no charge to bathe. Tina removed her new outfit from her person and bathed, mortified at the mount of filth that came out of her hair and skin. Had the walk to town been that far? It had only been a day at best, hadnât it? Tina shook her head and sighed. She let the steam and quiet sounds of splashing overtake her. For now, she just needed to get clean and out of town. If she was lucky, the captain hadnât noticed her absence.
When Tina was cleaned and dried, she returned to town. Her feet hardly felt the hot stones and sand. Walking barefoot on wood for as long as she had calloused her feet, she supposed. Tina stepped through the crowd, donning her burlap headscarf once more. As she moved through the hustle and bustle, she caught word of the town gossip. It was almost unavoidable, she supposed, in a town as small as this marketing stop.
An elderly woman commented on the horrendous attack on an unfamiliar ship that appeared in the harbor. A group of young women tittered about the state of the crew. From what Tina could tell, the crew was safe. Part of her felt relieved, and part of her terrified. While she was glad everyone was alright...that meant she had to be twice as careful to avoid getting captured. Tina stopped to let a group of people pass. As they walked, she listened to them chatter.
âHeard those pirates caught a queen and held her captiveâŚâ a burly, bearded man muttered. The manâs voice alone was enough to keep Tinaâs attention.
âMmh,â his skinnier, more nasally friend agreed. âDidnât they lose her in the fight the other day?â
âAs Iâve heard,â the burly man nodded. âEvidently, theyâve got her pet on boardâŚâ
Tina hissed. Razzy. Heâd thrown her off the ship after the blast. Sheâd left him behind! Turning, she looked towards the entrance of town. It was then she caught a pair of familiar faces. The queen swore beneath her breath and turned, now moving further into town. The Captain had sent out their search party. She pressed past crowds of people and vendors, her head ducked low.
A quick glance over her shoulder gave her some hope. Kellian and Pine were looking around them. Better still, they were in human guize, most likely to prevent panic. That meant theyâd be slower, at least to some degree. She had time to get away. Hopefully they wouldnât pick up her trail. Though, with Pine being a naga, and Kellian part dragon...her chances of staying hidden for long were slim.
She moved fluidly through the crowd until the sight of a hat caught her gaze. Tina scowled. Of course, the damned Captain came to help search. Her eyes darted to an alleyway. Tina crept towards it, then broke into a sprint. If she could stay undetected until dark, her chances of finding Razzy and escaping with him would spike. Just stay hidden until dark in a strange place without any means of defending herself. Easy.

Ollie scowled as they caught sight of their first mate approaching them. The lanky man crossed his arms as they approached, eyeing Kiwi at their side.
âWe âavenât found âer yet.â He said flatly, blue eyes still scanning the crowd of market partrons. Pine ran a hand through his teal hair.
âBoss, Iâm thinkinâ she left town,â Pine added. He rubbed at his legs, his distaste for them over his tail clear. âSheâs smart-â
âWouldnâ be searchinâ fer her if ya kept yer eyes on her properly,â Kellian growled. Pine glared at the taller man, but cast his gaze to the ground. He knew better than to challenge Kellian. Turning his attention to the captain, Kellian flicked his ears. âI caught âer scent at tha community bathinâ place, but after that things get tricky.â
The captain sighed and rubbed their face, then glanced to Kiwi. The snoodle growled at their side, but offered no input on the queenieâs location. With the queenâs snoodle out of commission from the blast, they were running out of means to find her. Their only chance now was the queen returning for Razzy⌠Knowing how attached she was to the critter, she would at nightfall, if not sooner.
âWeâll head back taâ tha ship,â Ollie instructed. âHelp patch tha ship up, anâ put Razzy outside under some trees. Let queenie see âim, and keep âim close enough so ya can grab Queenie when she comes fer âim.â Kellian and Pine nodded, and turned back towards the townâs entrance. The Captain spared one last glance into town and followed after them.
In hindsight, Oliver couldnât blame the queen for running from the ship. They could hardly blame her for anything sheâd said or done thus far. She made it a point to constantly remind captain and crew of what theyâd done to her, what theyâd taken from her, and how their abuse of her kindness hurt her. Oliver dragged a hand over their face. Why theyâd done it was still beyond them. Taking the queen hostage had done nothing but cause their crew pain and frustration.
Every chance she got, Tina attempted to flee. Ollie hadnât planned on keeping the queen on board as long as they had. Wherever they were in a position to take the queen home, something like the explosion threw them off track. Even the crew began questioning just when their captain would release their queenly captor and end whatever plan theyâd had in mind. But for now, it was an explosive, terrible mess they had to fix. Soon.

Ooooh boy, part two of the fifty prompt long list Iâve been working on ajsjsj
I wanted to make this story longer so I might go back and add new parts later but this was getting too long for what I had in mind >~> this was supposed to be easyyyyy
Anyways this story is set in the pirate!verse owned by @oliverthesaltyedgelord and I. Itâs by far one of, if not our edgiest and angstiest verses. If youâre not sure whatâs going on, the Captain (Ollie) kidnapped the queen (Tina) from her home after raiding her kingdom, who trusted the band of pirates. And...hell pretty much ensues for Captain ;9;
So yeah!
Pine, Kellian and Captain!Ollie belong to @oliverthesaltyedgelord
Tina, Razzy and the writing belongs to me, @tinyliltina!
Port Royal was a pirate town if ever there was one. It was also a very good place for said pirates to buy and sell some of their stolen loot--the loot they didnât keep for themselves, that is. And today, Belle and her crew had quite a bit of loot they didnât need--mostly booze. Sure, theyâd drink rum or ale, but Belle never allowed grog aboard her ship--it was foul-tasting swill, and did nothing to help any sailorâs wit--and even with the alcohol she allowed, it was never more than two or three barrels onboard at a time. So today they had quite a good amount to sell off, and while a few of her crew were off doing that and the rest who hadnât been let behind to guard the ship had gone to find their own entertainment, Belle decided to go see what merchandise caught her eye in the few open-air vendorsâ booths along the pier.
And catch her eye something did. A pretty, light blue fabric sitting on the counter at one of the booths. It was soft and lightweight, and it looked like it would be warm. The price the vendor gave her when she asked, however, seemed a bit high. But Belle was tutored in other areas than weaving and fabric quality, so who was she to judge?

Leonidae darted around the people on the busy dock, satchel clutched tight to his chest. It didnât seem to be full of any jewels, or... anything for that matter, but he was holding it like a lifeline. Judging the space from dock to ship he hollered to his crew, scaling the side of The Lion of The Sea as it were nothing to him. Having claws helped.
They got away without a hitch, Leonidae smirked as a cluster of soldiers flooded the docks. The demigod gave a cocky salute and turned to his crew. âLetâs go home.â
âI saw you eyeballing that asshole at the end of the bar. I know that look. Usually means somebodyâs about to get punched in the face. And I happen to know that that one?â The little blonde jerked her chin in the direction of a certain boisterous fellow whoâd spent the last ten minutes making lewd jokes and grabbing at every barmaid who came within armâs reach. âHeâs got it coming.â
She sat back and took a long sip of her drink, blue eyes glittering over the sip.

Some time later, Jake heard footsteps. He looked up to see Chris walking back towards him. Instantly, he threw his weight forwards with a hiss. She didnât react. Jakeâs hair stood on end as she neared him.
âCominâ tâgloat?â He snapped.
She looked up, meeting his gaze cooly. While clean and dry, she still looked exhausted. Her hands tinkered with something, and the cell door pushed open. Jake blinked. She was soâŚcalm for someone heâd snarled at. Had this been her plan all along? Wear down his guard, then make him regret it? Get in good with the Hunters?
Slowly, she stepped up to him, eyeing him for a moment. He saw something flicker on her face. Guilt? Worry? He couldnât be sure, it was gone as soon as it came. A straight-faced Chris stepped alongside, and then behind him. Fingers grasped his wrists. He tensed, expecting a stab of pain. Instead there was a soft >click. Jake felt his arms fall to his sides. He turned to look at her, eyes widened.
âHow didjaâŚ?â He brought his arms forwards, rubbing at the red rawness where the shackles had been.
She grinned, lifting a ring of keys. âIâm a pirate, remember?â
Jake balked. Sheâd come back for him. She could have ran, never looked back. Left him and his crew behind for the safety of the navy. Yet sheâd come back. He stared at her. Just when he thought he had the stowaway baker all figured out, she managed to surprise him.
Chris offered him a hand. It took him a moment to take it, and ease himself onto his aching legs. He didnât feel incredibly steady, but it was the best feeling to move on his own, even with the stings from the whip wounds.
âI havenât found a way out yet but figured you could find it better than me,â Chris said softly. âWe might wanna hurry before the guards find out where I went to-â
âLet âem come,â Jake grinned. Heâd deal with them the best way he knew how. Even now, Chris smelled delicious, and it took focus on every fiber of his being to not eat her again. No, now he had to be captain. Hungry dragon would come soon enough. âCâmon, anâ stay behind me.â
He stepped forwards carefully, the lashes protesting every movement. Pointed ears flicked, catching the sound of Chris close to his back. He held out an arm for a moment, listening. There was a clamor of noises to his left, shouts of surprise. Seemed the Hunters caught on Chris had slipped away. Smirking, he slinked forwards.
âStay here a sec,â he murmured. Stepping forwards, Jake rolled his shoulders. For the first time in ages, he let the magical binds keeping his scales tucked away go lax. Muscles and bones stretched, and his skin gave way to his tan scales while his furry mane sprouted along his back. Though the cuts burned, and his body ached, he fell to all fours, his tail lashing behind him. The dragon grinned as his snout grew out, standing tall. Finally, he could hunt.
~~
Faster than Chrisâd ever seen, Jakeâs body ballooned into the hall, taking up nearly half the walkway, and towered over her. She kept herself pressed to the wall as a rush of shouts came from the other end of the passageway. Jakeâs claws dug into the ground, and he launched forwards with a roar. Chris couldnât see much but his big tan hideâŚwhat she heard was enough. Screams for mercy and pleads, followed by the sounds of unceremonious squelches and swallows sheâd grown familiar with, and the sight of Jake tossing his head back. After a few moments, the hall fell silent.
Jakeâs head straightened, and he turned, an eye peering at her. He kicked his lips and gestured with his chin. âCâmon,â the captain turned, lumbering further down the hall. âGotta keeps movinâ.â
Chris nodded, picking her way behind him. Scattered weapons and bags littered the floor. She almost walked past them, then paused to collect what she could. They wouldnât be missed. A satchel or two that she tossed over her shoulders, and a few small weapons stashed inside them. She hurried behind Jake as she tucked away her new goods for the crew.
âAny idea on a way out?â Chris asked, peering around Jakeâs squirming gut. The movements were slower now, more sluggish.
He paused, ears and nose twitching. After a moment, he began walking again. âThis wayâs gotta way out, I thinksâŚâ
âOkay,â she nodded. The halls were quiet, Dave the grumbled of his middle. The movements stoppedâŚChris cringed, desperate to take her mind off the implications. âHow many more do you think there are?â
âAinât many,â Jake shrugged. âI smelled lots yesterday-but the smellâs stale today. Hunter that whipped me saids navy folks was cominâ by. Wonder if someâve them ran off tâhandle less legal stuffs before they gots hereâŚâ he trailed off.
Nodding again, Chris glanced up to the dragon. His scales were covered in scabs, scarsâŚsome of them still bleeding. He seemedâŚokay enough, she guessed. Okay enough to eat, fight, so surely he wasnât as bad off as he seemed. She rubbed her arms as they continued along.
âGods if I never see another Hunter againâŚâ
âThis ainât gonna be thâlast youâll see of âem,â Jake sighed. âFuckers is everywhere on thâseasâŚsurprised yaâ didnât wanna go back tâyer fancy dock life after thisâŚâ he trailed off, and Chris caught him peering at her before focusing his attention ahead.
She snorted. âTold you, life on the docks was boring. Never did anything fun thereâŚâ
âNever gots kidnapped neither, though.â
âTrue,â Chris shrugged, then nudged at an unscathed part of the dragonâs flank. âWhat, you still wanna get rid of me?â She smirked.
ââŚNah,â he shook his head, craning his neck to smirk. He straightened as he began to round a corner. For a moment, he sounded sincere. âYaâ taste too good fer that~.â
Ah, there was the snark.
âUgh-!â She moved to smack his leg, only to freeze as she stepped around the corner. At the end of t hall were six, maybe seven Hunters. Behind them seemed the way out, by the glorious sight of weapons tucked away through a grated door. Jake growled at her side, and Chris stepped back.
Before the hunters could move, Jake leapt into action. His claws swept over the first several, knocking them back into the others. Chris turned away as Jake finished them off, a resounding belch announcing their defeat. When she looked back, Jake stood, paws planted, looking very full⌠She didnât know much about dragons, but didnât think they could look green. Yet, somehow, Jake had a green hue to his face.
âYou, uhâŚyou okay captain?â
âUrghâŚyep,â he grunted around another belch. âDoinâ fineâŚâ his tail gestured to the door behind him. âCan yaâ open that? Thinks we might use thâgunpowderâŚâ
She nodded, stepping forwards and around Jake. The door had a safe, a poorly designed one⌠Watching the crew had truly paid off. She leant into the door, placing her ear on it. Closing her eyes, she honed in on the lockâs mechanisms. Turn, turnâŚ.
MMPH!
Chris blinked, eyes shifting to the side. Jakeâs stomach rolled, and Chris watched a noticeable bump trail along his scales before vanishing. She shuddered, closed her eyes again, and focused. TurnâŚturnâŚ.another oneâŚ
HMPH!
Straightening, she glared up at Jake. He raised a brow ridge.
âI need you to back up so I can focus.â
Jake frowned. ââŚWhy?â
She threw her hands towards his middle as another muffled shout pierced the air. âThat! Itâs weird hearing-itâŚtheâŚyâknow!â
Jakeâs head craned down, then lifted to regard her again. âOh, ya ainât gonna hear that fer long.â His expression and tone was genuine, maybe a tad confused. He wasnât kidding.
Chris placed the palm of her hand to her forehead, bewildered at how such an intimidating creature could also be so clueless. âJustâŚplease. Go stand somewhere else and let me focus.â
Jake snorted as she turned around. After a moment, she heard weight shift, and heavy footsteps receding. She rolled her eyes. >Turn, turnâŚ.turn-click! Chris grinned. Turn, turn, click! She poked her tongue out, focusing on the tiny sounds. Turn, turn, turnâŚ.turn, turnâŚ.turn-click! There was a thud, and the door loosened.
âFind thâgunpowder,â Jake called. âBring it here.â
Nodding once, Chris scanned the room. Guns, gun oils, gun bulletsâŚgun powder. The pile of bags wasnât big, but from her understanding, it didnât take much. She knelt, scooping the heavy package up like a sack of flour. Once it was secured on her shoulder, the turned, and deposited it in front of Jake. He knelt, examining the package.
âThere more left?â
âAye,â she gestured behind her. âSix if I counted right.â
âGood, here,â he lifted a claw and sliced a small hole. âCarry it there, then back here. Weâll makes a trail. Anâ bring thâother bag in case we needs it.â
Chris followed orders, a bit of pride in her step. Receiving ordersâŚshe really was a pirate. Once she was back at Jakeâs side, he turned, pausing a moment.
âThinks weâre on the right track.â He stepped forwards, his stomach swaying now. His footsteps were heavier, too, jostling Chris with every step.
âGoodâŚâ Chris mumbled, trailing alongside her captain.
