Marveltown
I still hate myself.
I've discovered another musical, Hadestown this time. And apparently I'm never leaving this Marvel kick. So, here's the characters I've been imagining.
For those who don't know Hadestown is a musical on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. It's got like a jazzy, 1920's vibe going on.
Peter Parker as Orpheus
Yes this one was probably obvious. To me they are similar with the whole naive boy with a gift learns how cruel the world can be. Plus Tom Holland has this softness in his voice that Orpheus has as well that I adore. Plus they earned a soft spot in a higher up in their respective worlds i.e. Tony/Persephone
Shuri as Eurydice
Now before you bite my head off that I didn't pick MJ, let me just say that I really don't care for her. It's probably a mixture of me being tired of her character trope and me not really being a Zendaya fan to begin with. I know they can be seen as similar but not enough for me to actually like MJ or put her as Eurydice. Plus Shuri always wanting to create new and better than the last model reminds me of Eurydice's "hunger" often said throughout the musical. (No it has nothing to do with me being a lowkey Peter/Shuri shipper. What )
Tony Stark as Persephone
I know what you're thinking, what is this bitch on? Let me tell you, I have thought about this! 1. The alcoholism. Tony is a well known alcholic/sober man in the comics and throughout the musical it's shown Persephone has taken to alcohol for her depression. 2. Persephone is a balance between life and death, between the seasons. Her gifts give and take. It makes me think of Tony. His gifts, his inventions give life/come alive (Jarvis, Dum-E, U, Friday, BARF, the Iron Man suits) or they can take, though he doesn't always mean to. (Iron Man again, Ultron).
Steve Rogers as Hades
Ok so there was one glaring trait I saw from both that immediately made me compare them. CODEPENDENCY! CODEPENDENCY! BOTH STEVE ROGERS AND HADES ARE CODEPENDENT! Ya'll can fight me on that. They both have issues letting go, look at the end of Endgame that many of us ignore for Steve's example. Hades in the musical often had his wife late, retrieved her early before their six month agreement, and tried to recreate an artificial summer that his wife loves and brings to the above ground to get her to stay longer though it disgusted her. Both attack Orpheus/Peter. Also, their both big softies underneath it all. In general I do think the role of Hades, even in myth, fits well to Steve, the man out of time who had death near all his life.
Rhodey as Hermes
Ok this one is just that Hermes and Persephone give of a friendly/sibling like vibe and I thought it be cute.
Natasha, Carol, and Pepper as the Fates
The Fates are all knowing and general badasses in my book. I thought of that and these three ladies came to mind. Though they do taunt Orpheus ththroughout the musical I get a sense it's because they know how it ends and they're doing their job to make sure it comes true. These ladies always get the job done.
That's it for all the named characters and I hope you guys enjoyed this.
Tell me what you think!
