LAST CALL: RUBY’S PATISSERIE’s @rubyspatisserie last day is on Saturday 11th June so make sure you visit before then as they’ve been operating for nearly 25 years and have made lots of wedding and celebratory cakes over the years. I visited for the first time two weeks ago and tried the following: - strawberry shortcake $5 - vanilla slice $5 - toffee eclair $3.20 - almond and cherry biscotti $5.50 - cranberry and pecan biscotti $5.50 Favourites were the toffee eclair, biscotti and strawberry shortcake. The famous strawberry shortcake is very light and has layers of vanilla sponge cake and vanilla custard in between, wrapped by a thin layer of folded white chocolate. SWEET TREATS 🥐🍎🤤// Escargot: Pain Au Raisin (aud4.50); Almond croissant (aud5); Apple Danish (aud4.50) and House-made white chocolate cookies (aud6; 4 pieces) from Harvest Boulangerie Patisserie, Scarborough. The almond croissant here didn’t have any filling and that’s part of its appeal - it was so soft, fluffy and airy inside. The outside was crumbly and flaky. Escargot was very flaky and had a lot of raisins. Love that the pastries weren’t too sweet. MILLER & BAKER 🥐🍞 // Choc-coco croissant (aud8.50), Pain Au Raisin (aud6.50) and Cardamom roll (aud6) from a relatively new bakery Miller and Baker on Lake Street, Perth. Love the pain au raisin though I’m guessing it would have tasted better and more flaky just fresh off oven - visiting bakeries at 11am isn’t a good idea considering they were open from 6:30am onwards. The early bird gets the flakiness. P.S Miller and Baker is one of those few bakeries in Australia that mills their own flour.
