I honestly forgot that mount olympus is like above new york
Imagine Percy coming down already traumatized from seeing Ethan fall only to see his mangled body on the ground on his walk home. Now every time he wants to go to somewhere he has to see the place he hit the ground. For a few weeks it wasn’t cleaned properly so his blood was dried onto the pavement and Percy had to see that too. And Sally wondered why her son never left the house anymore.
rereading book 4 and oh. my god. percy trying to convince ethan to come back to chb with him and seek amnesty even though the guy tried to kill him 3 seconds ago is. killing me. the original "i can fix him" duo. like boy youre his fuckin archnemesis
this was flirting and nobody can tell me otherwise

nothing beats the enemies to lovers homoeroticism of Percethan. They met in an underground arena to fight to the death where Percy spared Ethan's life after holding a sword to his throat, tried to get Ethan to run away with him, was super pissy but kept sparing his life afterwards, Ethan almost killed Percy on the bridge and discovered his super secret one-hit KO weak spot that no one is supposed to know about and then kept that knowledge to himself, even during the final battle when he was looking right at it, only to then pick Percy over his boss and die with the knowledge of Percy's weakness still as their secret. should've made out with bloody noses
“You cant ship that it’s problematic” um you obviously have no sense joy or whimsy cause thats like half of the appeal
potentially my favorite thing about percy's and ethan's relationship is that its quite literally left 90% up to interpretation. it starts with percy wasting crucial time he could be using to save camp to save ethan's life in book 4 and helping ethan escape the titan's arena. we get no explanation for why he does this by the way, they met literally five minutes ago. ethan quickly proceeds to assert his position as the Morally Gray Character by thanking Percy, saying IOU, and ditching to help the titan army resurrect kronos and make the cost of that lost time even worse. he tries to kill percy again, blah blah blah, that is the last time percy is going to spare some idiot titan army member's stupid ungrateful ass, three months later they run into each other again ethan tries to kill percy again Percy calls Ethan a lot of really rude names and then proceeds to spare his life again. Like he doesn't even try to harmlessly capture him this time. No explanation again because they are fucking Weird. flash forward to the battle of manhattan, percy takes on the curse of achilles so he can fight kronos, now he is completely invulnerable except for one secret weak spot on his body that nobody knows the location of, except ethan apparently, because that guy somehow figures it out in less than 24 hours. ethan tries to kill percy, annabeth takes the knife, now percy really hates ethan, and Ethan, who has hated percy for the past two books, who is on kronos' side, should tell kronos where percy's secret spot is so this whole war can be resolved quickly, right? but does he? No! and are we ever going to find out why? no!!! instead we get an incredibly dramatic and tragic scene in which kronos tells ethan to reveal percy's secret spot, ethan refuses (he literally tried to kill percy himself like ten minutes ago), proceeds to take the sword stab that was meant for percy, dies with percy's weak spot as their secret, and directs his last words to percy with no malice right before he falls off olympus and dies six hundred floors below. zero explanation why he suddenly felt the need to sacrifice himself for a guy he's tried to kill multiple times before and never had a one-on-one conversation with in his Remarkably Short Life. oh yeah percy makes an offhanded bad-attempt-to-be-uncaring comment afterwards about how he made sure to tell everyone ethan was on their side in the end and deserved a camp burial. On a Completely Unrelated Note does Anyone Want to Hear my Headcanons on which Characters are Bisexual
