I got 80% on my finals and I feel really bad about it, like, logically I'm actually fine with it but there's just this bad feeling like I failed that keeps haunting me, ik it's nothing major but it's kinda bothering me
Hiya anon! First of all, congratulations on your 80%, because even if something feels off about it, it is, objectively, a great score. Secondly, I feel like I understand where you're coming from. When I came out of secondary school with my GCSEs (that's like the equivalent of halfway through high school I think?) I had a brilliant set of results. I was pleased, and relieved, but another part of me was going, "You could have done better. It's not good enough. You could have gotten a better score." That ominous feeling telling you it's not good enough? It's wrong, and a product of your self doubt or whatever impossible standards you set yourself. I think my advice would be to give it a bit of time. Whenever we do something, we tend to focus on our mistakes/what we could have done better and forget the things we accomplished. Treat yourself kindly, comfort yourself in things that make you happy. If you think acknowledging the bad feelings and wallowing in them for a bit will help, that's encouraged too. And given a lil bit of time, you'll focus more on the fact that you did well and accomplished a great score. That feeling of failure doesn't tend to stick around for long. Xxx
