The pink flower buds of Tasmannia lanceolata (mountain pepper, Australian pepper, pepper tree, Tasmanian pepper) have yet to release the fragrance of the flowers. This is a dense, evergreen shrub with an upright habit, the young foliage has a copper-tint but the older foliage is dark green. Both the bark and leaves have a strong scent of cinnamon.

The distinctive foliage of Pseudowintera colorata 'Red Leopard' (New Zealand pepper tree). This cultivar has burgundy-red and green, aromatic foliage producing the richest colours in full sun. It may suffer damage and stem dieback in harsh winters but is said to be able to survive temperatures down to -10Β°C. I feel the leaf markings of this evergreen plant maybe an acquired taste?
