That is INCREDIBLE, jesus christ there are so many amazing writers around these parts how did I get so lucky?? I just looked at your website and holy shit, it’s coming out so soon! I am just agog at your sticktoitiveness and hard work, this is truly an accomplishment you can look back on with pride for the rest of your life. I am so glad you’ve done this, and so glad that I get to BUY it and READ it and shower you with even more praise. 

It’s a sad commentary on how tight your muscles are if you feel a stretch just LYING with your arms up and out like cactus branches. But holding the position and breathing deeply for a few minutes felt good, so there’s that.

This is an excellent way to frame it and I could not agree more. White dudes will forever think everyone else owes them kindness, but they are furious when shown kindness and then told, in the gentlest way possible, that it was a gift given to them instead of a debt called in by them.

...it is only now that it is occuring to me that even though this was safety training run by professionals yadda yadda, asking people to do this cold without offering some intermediate and maybe SLIGHTLY LESS HIGH jumping-off options is a TERRIBLE IDEA.

I go to uni in a VERY hippie (I once heard someone refer to it as “behind the tofu curtain”) and rural (for New England values of rural) area. I guarantee if they did that at least one person or possibly more would make their own vellum. 

It does offer a lot more opportunities for poking people with sharp metal in sensitive areas, this is true. I just feel like the rules of foil might appeal to her. Epee can sort of descend into crude bashing. (Although not as badly as sabre. Sorry sabreurs.)
