I have no idea if this will even get any responses, but I’m not sure who in my real life to ask:
I’m 85% of the way through a CTM embroidery project. Each character who has lived in Nonnatus is represented by a flower on the embroidery- (for example, Sr Monica Joan is a dandelion bc she loves the weeds, Valerie is a poppy bc she was an army nurse, Trixie is a Portofino Citrix flower, etc) because Nonnatus tends to their allotment and flowers are a big representational aid in the show.
I’m really struggling with deciding which flower to give Patsy. I originally thought a White Magnolia because they’re the flower of Shanghai (where she was born) but I also feel like she doesn’t really have ties to it past her father and it being the location of her birth, so I’ve been contemplating the idea of a Carnation, because the red coloured carnations represent strength, love and compassion.
Since the piece is square, the corners have been embroidered with interlocking couples (Chummy and Peter, Shelagh and Patrick, Patsy and Delia and Barbara and Tom) so whichever flower I decide on for Patsy is going to be interlocked with a daffodil that represents Delia.
So which flower would suit Patsy more? A white magnolia or a red carnation?
White Magnolia or Carnation?
