Patrick was born in Boston, Massachusetts and his knowledge of Lethe was limited to the few summers he spent visiting his grandparents there as a child to the great reluctance of his parents. He joined the police force in Boston when he turned of age and he married his high school sweet-heart, Eleanor, not long after. His life was peaceful and good: his job was on the fast-track for success, he and his wife were expecting their first child, and he was happy. At least until he became a werewolf in his early twenties, triggering the gene that his family actively tried to forget existed, and he became the pariah of his family. Though he and his wife toughened things out for eleven years, Eleanorâs fear of the wolf and the danger of it eventually won out and the final years of their marriage were often spent in icy silences or shouting fights. After their divorce and custody battle was over, Patrick relocated to Lethe, taking up residence in his grandparents now empty home.
His arrival in Lethe was typical of anyone else requesting residency in the town and he joined the Lethe Police where his experience allowed him to quickly rise through the ranks and he became chief fairly quickly. He knows most of the goings on in town and heâs on a first-name basis with most of the people in Lethe, though not always in good ways. While he can be lenient depending on the situation and stoic under pressure, his temper is legendary when set off and it has only grown worse since his daughterâs disappearance in 2016. Because of this and his general dislike of being a werewolf in general, Patrick only does the minimum requirements as a member of the pack and often only interacts with a few of the wolves, namely friend and alpha, Meyer Lowell, or the curiosity of Nikolai Sokolov. Though Patrick is a good chief, thereâs always been whispers about his associations with Katherine Irving and the obvious connection the two of them share. Their first meeting was years ago and yet nothing has happened between them to the disappointment of the townâs loudest supporters, but most people believe itâs only a matter of time. To him, he values her and thereâs no person in town that heâs closer with, but he also worries about the blatant obstacles between them that came from being a werewolf and a vampire and he need only hear a word before acting.
Thereâs too many strange, supernatural things in the world for Patrick to think he knows all of them. The arrival of the Riverborn are proof enough that thereâs always something spookier out there for them to discover and he expects that theyâll find out more about the Riverborn with time. Heâs greeted their arrival with a certain amount of amusement at the mockery of amnesiacs winding up in a town called Lethe and acknowledges that their investigation into the Riverborn is near impossible to figure out without better resources. He doesnât trust the Riverborn exactly, but he doesnât think any of them are worse than the current troublemakers in the community. His biggest thoughts on them has everything to do with his daughter, though, and he feels half dread and half terrible hope that the next one to wash up on shore will be his daughter.
