Hello! Big.FAN I follow you on Twitter but I'm a bit shy to DM you on there 🤓 I really wanted to ask, since I noticed you're one of the only Mongolian Pathologic accounts I know of- could you break down a word for me if you have the time?
The word is 'Ekhilel.' It's used on Day II of P3 during Isidor’s funeral 'Forgive the big city ekhilel, father. He didn't mean to intrude.' I didn’t think much of it at first, but then I saw someone else asking about it in a tweet and got super curious! It would be so, so helpful if you could share your insight. 💟 THANKS in advance
Repost cuz I needed to add few things but BUCKLE UP FOR THOSE WHO FUCKING CARES
ALSO off topic before we start but I GREATLYYYYYYY love when people figure out I can speak Mongolian on tumblr or anywhere because I don’t consider myself super fluent, so it’s not really public info, BUT LOL I guess #they can fuckinf tell and that’s okay 👍. But still if it means i get pretty cool asks like these and i get to have fun then YAY….ANYWAYS I think I figured it out so I’ll share all I know. Again for THOSE who cares..
The word ”ekhilel" said during Isidor funeral where Artemy quote says
- "Forgive the big city ekhilel, father. He didn't mean to intrude."
As we all know the kin language does pull heavily from buryat and Mongolian. Naturally so. here the word эхлэл (ekhlel), which means "beginning", the verb эхлэх means "to begin," and the suffix nominalizes it into something kind of like "one who is at the start."
So an ekhilel is basically a beginner, someone who doesn't know yet, in this case Daniil, a city outsider who hasn't been initiated into Kin ways yadada.. It sits in the same family as erdem (for those who doesn’t know: a learned man who still doesn't know the Lines) or medenegshe (you are not part of us)…
BUT ALSO interesting ENOUGH is the tone Artemy uses it with, It's not even an insult, it's almost I guess sympathetic ? He says it in a way where he’s excusing him, where it’s like he will eventually learn/know(?, so an ekhilel isn't a malicious term, just a way to describe it as someone who hasn't started the real path yet. Beginner.
Love to add that Artemy has a kind of hopeful attitude about it, which is both funny and really good, because he clearly invested way too much faith in Daniil ever actually getting or understanding anything n the fact that he kept promoting him with new weightier titles and nicknames, only to basically go “damn u learned fucking nothing bro” at the very end of the game
