A warm breeze washed over the land as the mid morning sun worked on its steady path from the horizon. The sky was perfectly clear and nothing but the songs of birds could be heard. It was indeed the perfect day for flying.
It was a shame that Parrot was completely lost.
That didn't stop the child from enjoying the warm air currents that allowed her to drift lazily through the sky. There was no way she could get upset on such a beautiful morning! There wasn't a doubt in her mind that she wouldn't soon pick up a familiar signal with her navigation program. Once she picked up that signal it would be clear flying back home! This wouldn't be the first time she had gotten lost and it most certainly would not be the last. Until then she would enjoy what the day brought.
“Hopefully papa wont be too mad.” she mused under her breath, mostly trying to fill the silence. That was one thing about flying. It was always so quiet with nobody around. She had already been flying around for hours by herself and was wishing for someone to talk to or some music to listening to. Anything to fill the quiet.
A dark figure cutting in the sky in the distance tore the young girl from her thoughts. Whatever it was it had gained her full attention and caused her to steer in it's direction without a second thought. Perhaps it was another robot. If it was she could ask for directions. Maybe they could become friends! That would make this day even more perfect!
There was no way for her to be prepared for what she saw. Dipping down into the trees below was a large bird. It looked to be some sort of raven or crow that was a little over half her height.
Whatever it was she was looking at it couldn’t be a real bird, right? She had data on thousands of different species of birds and none matched the size and shape of whatever this was.
Parrot just could not resist trying to get to closer to whatever it was and slowly dropped down in a nearby tree. Her taloned boots dug into the soft wood, allowing her to balance easily on the branch. It was good distance from the bird. Not close enough to scare it and not too far where she couldn't get a perfect view to observe it.
Emerald eyes gazed at the large black bird with a childlike wonder. It was so pretty! Her wish to get closer to the stunning creature caused her wings to twitch. Maybe she found a new species of bird! Already her programming was taking in all the details of this encounter by saving images of this bird from her recorded memory into a new folder.
