Ask-Hunnie880: Imagine him finding out that his partner was only attracted to him because of his handsome looks and nothing more. He'd be so heartbroken š„ŗš

ā¢On a Thursday afternoon Sir Penwood arrives with a woman dressed impeccably.Ā Her only difference from Sir Integra was a skirt instead of pressed business pants.
ā¢Hellsing had been audited.Ā It was told that missing paperwork was an issue.Ā This hinged particularly on Pip and the Geese.Ā There needed to be documentation of the hours and time for continual maintenance training.
ā¢Ms. Katla Simmons is the answer.
ā¢At first Alucard remains in the shadows.Ā He watches Katla work side by side with Sir Hellsing. They have a good time.
ā¢Then the fact that Katla is so personal with everyone.Ā Sometimes she helps Walter manage time with her assistance.
ā¢~ā¢Ā°ā¤Ā°ā¢~ā¢
ā¢One evening about two weeks into Katla coming to Hellsing, Katla met in the kitchen.Ā She is getting her meal and so is Alucard, his blood packet.
"Oh! You do exist," she softly laughs. "Don't be so shy, Alucard.Ā I don't bite...much."
ā¢Now the Vampire can see why so much of the human staff are comfortable with Katla.Ā Not to mention how stunning her beauty is.Ā Though Alucard is wary.
ā¢Helen of Troy caused a war.
ā¢After that night, Alucard is his usual self with flirting.Ā Katla rolls with the punches and occasionally 'zings' the Unholy King back.Ā Of course Shadow King bursts out in maniacal laughter all of Hellsing can hear.
ā¢One late evening, early morning (3 a.m) Katla is in the Hellsing library.Ā Alucard finds her unable to sleep.
ā¢~ā¢Ā°ā¤Ā°ā¢~ā¢
"Alucard I have repeating nightmares," she sniffs."Can you help me?"
ā¢The long ebony haired Vampire pucks Katla up and takes her to his living quarters.Ā The woman is snuggling her head against his cool chest.
ā¢She is placed on his bed then he settles in next to her.Ā Katla immediately closes the distance and is snuggled tightly against him.
ā¢Alucard runs his finger through her thick chocolate colored hair.Ā With time Katla falls asleep.
ā¢Still Vampire can't shake a sense of suspicion.Ā Alucard does as he always does.Ā Ā
ā¢Sneak a peek into Katla's mind.
ā¢He reads the remnants of her repeating nightmare.Ā Her parents were murdered by someone due to a home invasion.
ā¢Now his highly sensitivity tuned Vampire mind can settle down a level.
ā¢~ā¢Ā°ā¤Ā°ā¢~ā¢
ā¢Alucard and Katla are professional in the workplace but in his quarters is a different story.Ā The two are constantly entwined with Katla cooing her love and devotion for him.
ā¢The lovers have been together for six months now.Ā Alucard has slowly been opening up more and more with Katla.Ā He actually feels safe enough to share some trauma in his past.
"It's going to be fine my Dark One," she softly replies.Ā "You are safe with me."
ā¢~ā¢Ā°ā¤Ā°ā¢~ā¢
ā¢Then one day, Alucard wakes up during the day. He's hungrier than usual so he phases up and strolls to the kitchen.Ā His sensitive Vampire hearing recognizes Katla on her cell phone in the kitchen.
"I don't know Cale," she says to the man on the other end of the phone. "I only fuck him because he's a gorgeous piece of meat."
ā¢How did she fool him?
ā¢~ā¢Ā°ā¤Ā°ā¢~ā¢
ā¢Alucard goes along as if he never heard the conversation.Ā Yet a terrible, dubious plan forms in his dark mind.Ā The Vampire King has nothing but time on his side.
ā¢Time passes and now Alucard makes it a game.Ā Until one late night, rain falling steadily and sure enough Katla has her 'nightmare'.
ā¢This time Alucard can read her thoughts as the nightmare is replying in her mind.Ā What he learns from it, it's time to spring his trap.
"Katla wake up little one," Alucard shakes her shoulder. "You're having your dream again."
ā¢He used to say nightmare not dream.
"Oh! Alucard!Ā My nightmare was more detailed than usualā¦" she wipes tears away.
"It's not really a nightmare is it Katla " he sneers. "It's a sweet dream of you murdering your parents.."
"What?"
"Please now," Alucard tsks her. "Did you not think I can read minds?Ā I can enter while you sleep?Ā You're a particularly nasty little humanā¦"
"I don't understand what you are talking aboutā¦" she huffs.
"I am curious as to how you seem empathic," he tightens his hold on Katla.
"Oh please yourself.Ā Maybe if you got out more," she hisses angrily. "I'm a psychopath that has learned to actĀ empatheticā¦"
"Destroyed your teacher I should imagine," he coldly states.
"Well the thing with empathy is it rather easy to get them to commit suicideā¦"she smirks.Ā "Why do you care, vampire?"
"You lied.Ā You have been lying all this time," he sneers with canines showing. "I just might have misled you about my identityā¦"
ā¢~ā¢Ā°ā¤Ā°ā¢~ā¢
ā¢Slowly, so achingly slowly Alucard unravels his body into twisting limbs of shadows and darkness.Ā He closes his eyes and licks his lips.
ā¢His eyes open with not two but hundreds as the eyes fill all of his quarter up.Ā One large one is staring at her from his chest.
ā¢Katla attempts to scream but a shadow tendril is shoved down her mouth.Ā Her eyes growl large and a real emotion is showing.
ā¢~ā¢Ā°ā¤Ā°ā¢~ā¢
ā¢Fear.Ā
ā¢True fear.
ā¢~ā¢Ā°ā¤Ā°ā¢~ā¢
"I may have neglected to reveal my true form," as he morphs to his Vlad form. "I am Vlad III Dracula and I am sure you know what I am famous forā¦"
ā¢
ā¢~ā¢Ā°ā¤Ā°ā¢~ā¢
ā¢
Katla
It sounds innocent enough, but hear me out, because itās not theĀ soundĀ of the name that has the creepy associations⦠itās the meaning! The name Katla is the feminine form of the Old Norse male name Ketill, which means ācauldron.ā Even creepier, theĀ ketillĀ was a cauldron used to catch the blood of sacrificial animals.
Parricide or parenticideĀ ā the killing of one's mother, father, or other close relative. Patricide ā the act of killing of one's father (Latin: pater "father"). Pedicide ā the act of killing a child.

Psychopaths tend to be more manipulative, can be seen by others as more charming, lead a semblance of a normal life, and minimize risk in criminal activities. Sociopaths tend to be more erratic, rage-prone, and unable to lead as much of a normal life.

Jeffrey Dingman helped his brother rRobert kill their parents.Ā He has grown up in prison in New Hampshire.Ā He was just paroled.Ā Love the New Hampshire green uniform, prisoner tag on the shirt, restraint belt, handcuffs, button fly pants and shaved head.Ā Perfect!
Erik Galen Menendez and Joseph Lyle Menendez a.k.a. The Menendez Brothers grew up in Princeton, New Jersey before moving to California. Lyle was born on January 10th 1968 and Erik was born on November 27th 1971. On August 29th 1989, their parents Jose and Kitty were watchingĀ The Spy Who Loved Me in the den of their $4 million Beverly Hills mansion when Erik and Lyle burst in armed with shotguns. Jose was first shot in the arm before one of his sons shot him in the head. Kitty was shot in both legs and the left breast while crawling away. The brothers ran out of ammunition so they left to reload in the driveway. They returned to their mother crawling toward them, put the gun to her left cheek, and shot.
After changing clothes and dumping the weapons on Mulholland Drive, in order to create an alibi, they decided to go to the movies to see Batman.Ā They returned to the house and at 11:47pm Lyle called 911 and cried "They shot and killed my parents!"Ā
After their parents' deaths they started spending lots of money, about $1 million in 6 months. Finally on October 31, Erik confessed to his psychiatrist who went to the police. The brothers were arrested on March 8, 1990. During the July 1993 trial Erik's lawyer claimed that their parents had sexually abused the boys. The defence almost worked and the trial ended in 2 deadlocked juries on January 25th 1994. A second trial began on October 11th 1995 and they were both convicted on March 20th 1996 of two counts of first degree murder plus conspiracy to commit murder. They were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.Ā

So I thought today Iād write a post rounding up some of my favorite parents from various books Iāve read, but when the time came to start listing themā¦it occurred to me that I couldnāt really think of all that many.
Iāve already written about theĀ parenticide trend, so I guess I shouldnāt have been all that surprised, but I hadnāt reallyĀ thought aboutĀ justĀ how much it permeates kid lit in well over a year (when I wrote that last post).
That being said, with some help from lovely Twitter friends, I managed to think of a grand total of three awesome parental figures. Whichā¦isnāt much, but itās a start.
In no particular order!
Harry PotterĀ (J.K. Rowling): Arthur and Molly Weasley
Where to begin with the Weasleys? On top of being overall wonderful parents to their extraordinarily large family, they also pseudo-adopted Harry, have the best combination of quirks, and are badass wizards when they need to be. They were the loving parents Harry didnāt have in his childhood, and they even had time to knit embarrassing Christmas sweaters for all of them every year.
The Mortal InstrumentsĀ (Cassandra Clare): Lucian (āLukeā) Graymark and Jocelyn Fray
Technically, Luke is Claryās kinda-not-really-step-dad because Claryās biological dad is decidedly not awesome (at least, not at parenting). But Luke has really grown on me throughout the series (note: Iāve only read the first three books so far). Without spoiling the extent of his badassness to those who havenāt read the books or watched the movie yet, all Iāll say is heās the perfect blend of caring step-dad and awesome character.Ā
Jocelyn, on the other hand, is a little MIA for a while, but the more you learn about her, the more you realize the full extent of what a wonderful (and pretty darn cool) mother she is.
Artemis FowlĀ (Eoin Colfer): Butler
So, ok, Butler isnāt Artemisās fatherāand his parents are actually in the series, but, well, theyāre not exactly my favorite. But Butler! If you ask me, heās more of a father figure to Artemis than his actual father is, and heās certainly sacrificed a hell of a lot more for Artemis than the Senior Fowl. So in my book, Butler wins the Awesome Parent of the Year award.Ā
With these examples aside, the fact that it took so much digging for me to even come up with three examples got me thinking. Naturally,Ā I understand the reasons parenticide works so well in kid lit, but the huge majority of dead, negligent, or just terrible parents in literature in contrast to the awesome parents mentioned in this post has made me wonder if maybe weāre missing out on an opportunity when we kill off parents in books. Every situation is different, of course, but I think Iād like to see more involved parents, and badass parents, and parents who are just plain awesome.Ā
What do you think? Are fictional parents an obstacle or a missed opportunity?

What do Harry Potter, Katniss Everdeen, Emerson Cole, Juliette Ferrars and the Baudelaire children have in common? If you looked at the title of this post, you can probably guess: they all have at least one missing or deceased parent. (read more)
