Have you heard these sounds before?

Using Parapsychology to show why you can’t trust AI.

This isn’t about debunking psychic phenomena or proving psychic phenomena or investigating supposed ghostly encounters. This is just about the pseudoscience (Esoteric Science) of Parapsychology, itself.

I have provided screen grabs to show my point. A slight change of wording alters how Google’s AI Overview answers pretty much the same question.

The question (re-worded a few times) is “Do you need a degree to work as a Parapsychologist?”

Let me to give the real answer here. Like being a Cryptozoologist, Paracryptozoologist, Paranthropologist, Demonologist, or Ufologist / Uapologist, there are very few ways to get a degree specific to Parapsychology.

While it is recommended to have a degree in psychology, neuroscience, and / or physics, it is not a requirement in order to be able to work as a Parapsychologist or Paranormal investigator. A degree makes your role more credible and a degree is the only way you can officially submit your research to universities or to specifically work for a university. However working privately as a paranormal investigator, consultant or independent Parapsychology researcher / parapsychologist does not require a degree.

So yes, you need a degree if you work for a university or if you want to be taken seriously, but no, you don’t need a degree if you want to have a private business as a parapsychologist or research. Parapsychology is not a licensed or officially regulated subject.

I, myself, have a certificate in Astrology / Parapsychology from SCI (Stratford Career Institute), which I admit is just a vocational school. I also have a (spiritual) Doctorate in Metaphysics D.META (The spiritual version of a Doctorate in Metaphysics is non-accredited so I don’t throw it around for clout. It's not worth much) from ULC (Universal Life Church), an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity (D.D.) (Note: In the US it's usually honorary), Litterarum Doctor (D.Litt.), Litterarum humanarum (Doctor of Humane letters) (L.H.D.), and the title of Spiritual Counselor, all also from ULC (Universal Life Church). I’m also an Ordained Minister but to be completely transparent, the ULC will literally ordain anyone (And it IS legally valid for officiating marriages in most of New York State, by the way).

But you don’t really need any of that to be a Parapsychologist.

Anyway, this is why you shouldn’t take for granted AI answers as being accurate and also why you shouldn't assume the AI answers you get are correct. Sometimes you get the direct opposite of a previous answer if you re-word the question slightly.
