Parallels between Supernatural the series and Chuckâs Supernatural
Itâs interesting how Castiel was only supposed to be part of Supernatural for 3-4 episodes and has been here for 11 years. He unexpectedly became an integral part of the series in a way that couldnât be ignored. What a parallel to Chuckâs storyâCas wasnât supposed to stay in his story, but he did, because he unexpectedly became an integral part of Dean and Samâs lives in a way that couldnât be ignored. This wasnât the intention of the SPN writers initially, and it wasnât the intention of Chuck, either. Sometimes stories and characters grow in ways we donât expect. Writers will often say, âI donât control them [the characters] anymore; they do what they want and I follow.â Thatâs whatâs happened here, both for SPN as a series and in Chuckâs stories. Chemistry happened. Choices happened. The characters are their own, independent selves now, hurtling toward an ending destined for them based on their choices, not based on what the writer(s) of the story want them to do. Iâm very optimistic about a positive end for Supernatural.
