9. “You took all the pillows so I’m using you as one.”
Glimmer rubs her cast in a feeble attempt to soothe her leg that is propped up on several pillows. The pain may have gone away but it sure as hell itches. To make matters worse, it is in a spot nothing can reach. All she can do now is suffer through it and wait for the nagging feeling to go away. Glimmer groans, leaning back against the headrest of the bed. Only a few more weeks and then it will be off.
Stupid stairs. When the hell did they become so slippery? And why the hell do she and Adora have so many steps anyway? The first time in her life she breaks a bone it is over something super lame. Glimmer can’t even make a good story out of it, where’s the fun in that?
The door to the bedroom opens up. Glimmer’s girlfriend enters and takes a seat besides her. In her hands is one of Glimmer’s favorite candy bars.
“Thought this would make you feel better,” the blonde says, handing her girlfriend the sweet.
“Just seeing you makes me feel a whole lot better. But this is a nice surprise.” Glimmer opens up the candy and begins to gnaw on it. The chocolate is like heaven at the moment.
As Glimmer eats, Adora places her head on her lap. Glimmer raises an eyebrow.
“What?” Adora asks. “You took all the pillows so I’m using you as one. Got a problem with that?”
“No, not at all.” With a free hand, Glimmer runs her fingers through Adora’s blonde locks. Her girlfriend’s eyes start to fall shut. “Tired?”
“Hmm...No…” Adora mutters.
“Rest up, love. You’ve been helping me so much, take it easy. Okay?”
Adora doesn’t respond. She already has slipped into unconsciousness. Glimmer continues to play with her girlfriend’s hair. If there is one good thing that has come out of being more or less bed ridden, she gets to spend more time with her girlfriend. Though, the blonde definitely needs to relax a little more. This is a win-win.
Glimmer gives Adora a peck on the forehead. “Sweet dreams. Thank you for the cuddles.”
