the van scene from 4x08 featuring my highlights.
tbh, i’m not exactly Glad that the script was fake, but i am glad i don’t have to sit here thinking so much over the “12 year old” line because while i do think it would’ve been from will, there always was a little doubt for me cause i can be pessimistic LOL. if it had been from mike, that would’ve been Very ooc in my opinion, at least for s4 mike and it honestly made no sense for how it played out on screen either (the insincere response from mike originally just read as him being distracted by something else, honestly, he wasn’t being mean or rude)
Yeah I definitely don't think it would be the reaction line from Mike (if the scripts are legit), and if it was, then I think it was edited out in later versions of the script or Finn played it differently bc it's definitely not what showed up on screen.
So who do we fight? Who do we make the enemy here? The straight-forward answer would be Nick, but it’s still pretty sus on the Duffers part. Who do we trust? CAN we trust anyone again? What’s gonna happen to the stranger things fandom the next two years? I feel like this is already tearing our already divided fandom further apart. Someone mentioned that there’s a low level of creator to audience trust in Stranger Things land because the show is just so BIG now and I think that’s true. Script Gate is giving me trust issues and making me feel like I’m being gaslighted by someone, but I’m not sure who. Do we just continue onward with our Byler theories and analysis like nothing happened even without getting concrete answers? I feel sick.
I don't really think there's a definitive answer for anything right now. For myself, I'm choosing to take scripts off the table for now and just look expressly at the show itself to create theory and analysis posts, because we don't really know who's being honest. I'm not sure if anyone's an enemy. If I'm honest, I don't think Nick was providing scripts in bad faith. I think he thought they were legit, and they might be legit, but whoever obtained them for him fucked him over, and so did the ST Writers Twitter blast, even if their intention was just to protect fans. A lot of people got caught in the crossfire of this whole thing. Whether that be due to negligence or a PR stunt, we can't be sure. But after all of the mixed messaging we've gotten from Stranger Things PR, first that the Will birthday was a mistake that they were editing, then with the Jonathan camera scene saying they don't edit their show post-release and that they never will, they've shot themselves in the foot because they're no longer presenting themselves as credible, especially given the way this was handled, the fact that the scripts contain lines and stage directions that you would not glean from just having watched back the episode, the fact that the copyright page says it's from 21 Laps, the fact that people HAVE gotten copyright strikes for posting Dear Billy, the fact that the pages are white and blue signifying the revisions, the fact that the scripts were trending for days prior to the tweet and nothing was done about it legally, and that allegedly Nick has not been served a cease and desist or asked to take down any of the scripts posted. In my mind, it's hard to believe that this is as simple as writing this off as faked scripts. To me, the way that the Stranger Writers PR team chose to handle this situation was incredibly poor and reflects more poorly on them. The fact that we've gotten statements from Nick but no official statements from Netflix or Stranger Things also feels highly suspect. I don't trust Nick or Stranger Writers at this point, and I'm not sure we'll really get any more clarity on the subject.
so are the scripts fake or what? did we get proof overnight? or is the same thing that was happening last night happening now? (aka everyones still confused and no one has any proof?)

if i had to tag myself in this whole situation, i’m whoever wrote “says mike’s reaction: it’s stunning.” idc if it was a scammer, the duffer brothers, whoever, i’m that person. he’s just like me fr
I’m so confused rn, are the scripts real
I am amazed at the fact that Nick manages to simultaneously be the best and worst scammer that ever existed. If he is the scammer, he knew the script was illegitimate and still decided to build-up hype around it, knowing he could lose his career and credibility.
If the scammer is that nameless "source" of his, questions: why was the script delayed? Why did Nick decide to edit the script?
None of this make sense. This is madness.
