#panic vertigo

Track 1 : Figure This Out - The first track on this EP starts with a bang. A song about a wishy washy relationship, saying goodbye and yet coming back for more. Nick Anderson’s voice is clear and straight forward with this track and I think that helps drive home the themes as well. I love the guitar solo bit too, such a vibe. My favorite lyrics: She said, "Are you gonna write a song about me?" / And I think that I just about threw up in my mouth / Hope that's the vodka talking I think speak for themselves. Overall a jamming start to this EP.

Track 2 : James Dean - Easily one of my favorites by The Wrecks. I heard them play this before its official release in 2017 and damn it stuck with me the whole year before it’s studio version. It’s a song to dance and sing out loud too. The struggles of being cool are highlighted in this rocking track. Hey, he might not be James Dean but that’s okay too. 

Track 3 : Way With Words - From the beginning, the sound switches to a more mellow tone with the simple drum beat and strong chorus. We’re left asking “is this what we really wanted from our relationship?” The recurring lyric Is this what you wanted? sets the tone of Nick wanting answers and showing this girl what has happened up to this point of a rocky relationship. A relatable track with a nice break in sound from the other songs on this EP.

Track 4 : Panic Vertigo - The title track for this record, a song that definitely sets the frame for this group of songs. The acoustic guitar paired with the punchy percussion makes you wanna sing at the top of your lungs and move through the motions. The bridge too? Such a sick breakdown! The lyrics: I’ve had it with this panic vertigo, yeah I have to let it go dare I say reflect getting your shit together in the hard times and getting back on your feet. A great song with a cool title as well.

Track 5 : Revolution - Talk about a song that makes you wanna sing and dance. This track is so full of power and energy. The lyrics: I know myself More than you knew who I was Gives the tone for the rest of the song. You can really picture Nick’s face as he belts out those lyrics. A perfect way to wrap up a solid EP. 

Album Overview - With each release, The Wrecks gain more and more traction in the music world, getting stronger in every aspect, vocally, instrumentally, and structurally. From the mellow Panic Vertigo to jamming along to James Dean, this EP is well rounded and ready to show the world what it has. I’m so excited for The Wreck’s debut album and the alt-rock world should be too.
