Everyone’s calling bs on the anon that’s saying “Pakku’s not a misogynist, he’s traditionalist.”
Personally, I say he’s technically both, but if he kissed enough men & got pregnant, it’ll fix everything no problem.

Everyone calling out the bs that was the "Pakku aint a misogynist, he's a traditionalist" anon ask is probably the first time I've held respect for this fandom in a long time. Like, y'all gotta raise your standards but at least its there

Context can’t explain what’s happening here…
I don't normally do this but this anon confession irks me so much. Really seemed insensitive (intentional or not) to real world misogyny by partaking in it.

So, I have to share this.

He was not mysoginist btw. He's traditionalist.
You're right he was a feminist it was katara who implanted misogynistic ideas in his brain

This fandom is able to apologise Zuko (and sometimes even Iroh) but hates Pakku...
It's something I can't understand. He has changed too! He accepted his wrongs. Katara forgave him, Aang forgave him, Kanna of all people forgave him! Yes he is not a hot firebender with a tragic backstory... that's the reason? right? He does have a tragic backstory actually anc I think it's the best love story in the whole animated series but that's another thing. I think he has redeemed himself. And that was actually cool.
He was not mysoginist btw. He's traditionalist. Conservative. He has never said that women are worse, weaker or anything like that (he did it in NAtlA though... because they don't care about the original narrative like at all). It was about tradition – and he rejected this tradition the very moment he understood how much pain it can cause.
Not anti Zuko, god forbid. Just... Pakku's redemption deserves mentioning. It's there.
And he does not deserve such hate. He. Did. Change! Come on

it’s funny how katara’s necklace aka kya’s necklace aka kanna’s betrothal necklace made by pakku is imo, the most beautiful rendition of the waterbending symbol that exists in canon.
and like it’s so disgustingly pakku because it means that while he was thinking long and hard about how he was gonna propose to this girl he loves very much, he decided to etch his own identity into what she’s gonna wear for the rest of her life. like he clearly knew what his station in life was gonna be from an early age and not only made it his personality, but decided it was gonna be his wife’s too.
so, it’s hilarious to me that it’s so beautiful since it shows he did put a lot of time into it partly because he loves her but also because he loooves himself. it’s the most narcissistically romantic thing ever.
and of course the real life reason (for the cynics in the crowd) is that they wanted katara to have a neck accessory and made it the symbol of water because waterbender, but the poetic justice of katara owning a necklace that symbolizes her waterbending prowess when it used to symbolize that of her formerly(?) misogynistic master is just too much. and it’s all because pakku was (somewhat still is) a raging narcissist who couldn’t fathom a scenario in which he gifts such a beautiful necklace to any woman and gets dumped. i like to think the minute kanna saw that symbol she knew it was wraps, and still kept it because, well it’s beautiful.
all that said, it would be nice to see what he etched on to kanna’s new betrothal necklace. if he learned from his mistakes or not.
