If there's a lesson in "The More the Merrier" it's 'tactics trump power'. Technically, Oz's group outnumbers Salem's forces, but it means nothing when he walks the kids and Qrow into an obvious trap. Simarly, Weiss with her Semblance should overpower Vernal, but she leaves herself open trying to summon her Armor Gigas that the bandit is able to take Weiss down with ease.

One thing I’ve noticed and really love is that Ozma has a rather passive role in Salem’s backstory. They were lovers, then he died and Salem was the one who went to the Gods to save him, Salem was the one who has had to watch him being brought back to life and killed by the Gods in front of her eyes, Salem was the one who then made humanity turn against the Gods. Ozma doesn’t become an active part in that story until much later on, and to be honest, usually it’s the other way around. Usually women are the ones playing a passive role in the backstory of active men. But RWBY did it the other way around and I’m all here for that.
