hi i’m oswald/oz! i’ve been meaning to post this for awhile. i’ve finally made a studyblr after years of using this site! i’m honestly surprised by the amount of kindness in this community- along with the intelligence of all the younger ones here!

why i made a studyblr:

mostly motivation. i’ve been meaning to for awhile and admired from afar, i love the aesthetic and thoughtfulness of it

i’m in my senior year, so i’m taking things more seriously. i didn’t do so well the other years, going just below average. i plan to keep this blog up in college as well, so i can be ready for it.

day 6: what’s your favorite quote?

i recently finished stranger things season 2 and this quote holds a place in my heart now.

A lot of the stuff going around seems very detached? And I mean, I understand that that's just how a lot of spells are, they're spiritual and symbolic. At the same time though, it is frequently pointed out that that's only half of what the work is, you also need it grounded in the mundane. A job spell's not going to do much good if you haven't sent out any resumes, right?

Another thing that I've noticed is there seems to be only focus on justice and protection. I'd like to suggest that maybe adding things like lasting change, destruction of misinformation, spreading of information, amplifying black voices, opening of eyes / ears/ minds, etc. to the list might be worth while?

Particularly I think a focus on spells that go hand in hand with talking to the people around you about what's going on would be beneficial. A big part of this protest is fixing a hugely broken system. There may not be a lot we individually can do to fix this at the source, but that's only part of the problem. People who don't understand or are being feed incorrect information help hold this system in place. 

So with that in mind here are some magic-y ideas:

Modify a spell so it ends with you signing a petition

Reblogging information posts as offerings to a deity

Charging some spare change with "pass it on" style information

Send letters to relevant government offices with invisible lemon ink sigils

Send handwritten letters to relevant government offices with blessed ink / pen

Learn the counter-arguments to some of the common misinformation (i.e. Darren Wilson has injuries from the attack) and put them on a knife to be used in an extraction ceremony

Learn the counter-arguments to some of the common misinformation and bake them into something sweet to help make it easier to take in.

Do shadow work to make yourself a better ally 

Make bravery charms so when the moment comes to speak up you can

Do recharging rituals to keep yourself from burning out

Use the schedule post feature to remind you when to recharge any related spells.

Find a money spell you can add the stipulation of sending above and beyond your needs to a Ferguson related cause.

Wadjet- The personification of the Eye of Ra. She was the cobra who protected the pharaoh, one of the "Two Ladies" who protected Egypt. Both she and Bast were heavily associated with Lower Egypt, and occasionally synchronized.

Sekhmet- The most commonly known association of Bast and there are a lot of misconceptions about their relationship in popular culture. She and Bast were often paired as "two sides of the same coin" the way Wadjet and Nekhbet were, representing Lower and Upper Egypt respectively. 

Mut- The mother goddess of Thebes, when her city began to raise in power she began to be synchronized with many different goddesses, particularly the Two Ladies and Bast / Sekhmet. 

Mafdet / Pakhet - These are two distinctive goddesses, but share nearly the same connection to Bast. They are both very old goddesses, thought to have either been absorbed into Bast or simply supplanted.

Anpu - The connection between Anpu and Bast is faint and it appears some association was drawn between them due to a shared association with ointments.
