Captain Caviar and Oyster are Odysseus and Penelope (without the 20 years apart). That is their dynamic to me. They've been married for 50+ years. They're the most cunning and cutthroat people but they're a power couple and honestly good for them. They're fighting against colonizers.

i cannot say anything nice about oycap, sorry. i respect if that’s your bi4bi m/f ship (I think everyone should have one) but oyster is so much more than the men the game surrounds her with—and i also can’t help but be annoyed by how the shippers water down literally every woman they ship caviar with. oyster and caviar canonically are very much a assimilationist (oyster) vs multiculturalism (captain caviar) dichotomy, because oyster has forced the colonial republic to respect her by following their traditions of subjugating and ignoring the lower city, whereas caviar actively fights for the lower city citizens to live, against both oyster’s money and the inane, petty members on the council. shipping them fundamentally destroys one of odyssey’s greatest writing achievements, and one of the most nuanced relationships it wrote with all of its lofty ambitions. you can never convince me to like this ship with they so obviously work better as platonic intellectual halves of a coin
