Idea progress: Oxidants cause Mortality

Well, I started looking into how Oxygen and other oxidants affect the body, since I remember sbd posting how it’s thanks to oxygen that we age and die of old age. Basically, I was looking into if different oxidants caused different levels of oxidative stress and cause varying levels of ageing.
It would be a neat thought. These big bad immortals being used to a different atmosphere, their bodies adapt to it and then when they get to Earth... Boom! All that Oxygen and pollution in the air starts damaging them internally in a way that they’re just not used to. I’m talking ageing, cancer, respiratory conditions and diseases- the whole shebang that humans have had to deal with (with better success, since we’re made to breathe oxygen). But perhaps slightly worse, since the different oxidants they’re breathing in cause worse oxidative stress.

Buuut I haven’t had much success on that front. I have trouble finding -and understanding- the relevant articles and research to form a decent theory. So, for the sake of not losing any more sleep over it I’m gonna put this out there in its half-baked form.
Maybe I’ll come back to it, but right now my focus has shifted to other questions.
