I’m not sure how I stumbled across this book, but I’m a good 20% into it now and really enjoying it. It’s an interesting combination of the history of Section 28 (a law basically banning the “promoting homosexuality” in schools passed in England, Scotland and Wales in 1988) and the authors story of how this affected him growing up. He was 16 when it passed, and had known he was gay for years at that point.
It is a bit heavy on the history and politics, I’m hoping to see more of his personal story going forward. As someone who lived through the AIDS crisis beginning in ‘81 as a deeply closeted lesbian (in ‘81 I was 17) I see so many parallels to what was going on in NYC and how it affected me.
I’m also reading thinking of David, who has referred to Section 28 several times in interviews, and Michael, who has mentioned wanting to wear skirts and lip gloss at that time 😁. @ingravinoveritas I think you would find this book interesting, if you haven’t already read it.
I also find myself wondering how everything would have affected Aziraphale and Crowley whenever I read anything about LGBTQ+ history
Having lived through the period as a young queer it’s really bringing home what a hard, dark time it was.
Outrageous! is a 1977 Canadian film about a hairdresser, Robin, who starts to realize his dreams of performing as a drag queen when he takes in his friend, Liza, who was just released from a mental institution.
It's a wonderful, heartfelt film about two outcasts finding solace and friendship with one another. I truly love it. You can watch the whole thing on YouTube here.

"If by my life or death I can protect you, I will. You have my sword."
Got called a bitch In My Own Home (14th st subway station)
Bah! Bah! What did I just see!? A fanfic author, a popular one at that, actually wrote Wei Wuxian recognizing his ancestor... To LanlingJin. Fuckin LanlingJin????! Are you kidding me bruhh??
To that LanlingJin, a sect who has pushed WWX to die and pushed his beloved people to die??
And Lan Wangji, actually got fascinated to WWX wearing Venus Xuelang robes??
Are you crazy or Hanguang-Jun crazy???
Lan Wangji would definitely be horny if Wei Wuxian wears his White Moire Cloud Pattern Gusulan Robes!!
Why would he got horny at his Wei Ying wearing a robe of the sect that has brought misery not only to him, his beloved Wei Ying, Lan Sizhui's family, and even to his older brother Lan Xichen!???
My oh my...
How outrageous.
The more outrageous thing is the author actually claimed the fanfic as "MDZS Sequel".
