"Y/n? Y/n what' s the matter?"
Everything, you want to reply, but the words stick to your throat. Nothing but choked hiccups came out of your mouth as Dimitri crouched down in front of you, placing a cautious hand on your cheek. It had been a long week - too long, in your opinion - and the bottled up emotions were simply too much for you to cope with at this point. Of course, that meant something small had set off a major overreaction, a shameful display in your eyes.
"It's going to be alright, y/n. I promise you this." he says, voice soft. You wished you could believe him. "I'll stay with you, alright?" Nodding in response, you sniffle and wipe your face with your sleeve. It was obvious he hadn't seen you as bad as this before, what with the stuttered responses and short silences that followed, but his presence was calming - that was enough for now.
Dimitri moves to sit next to you, coaxing your hands away from your face and replacing it with his own, wiping the tears that rolled down your cheeks. It was surprising how gentle he was - how careful he was; almost like was worried he would break you.
"I know you may not want to talk about it y/n, but please know I'm here to listen at any time. I know how hard it is to suffer alone, so please don't make yourself go through that." Dimitri pauses, sighs, and places a kiss on the crown of your head. "I will not go anywhere without you. This I promise."
