How to make your eyebrows extra full & fluffy with TWO brow gels
“Use Two Brow Gels: A fibre infused gel for texture. A clear gel for hold”
Should I use two brow gels? Can I even use two brow gels? The idea of two brow gels may sound a little scary at first. After all, who wants rock-hard eyebrows that feel uncomfortable and scratchy? Rather than envisioning crispy and uncomfortable brows, think of it this way: Apply one brow gel to add texture and volume, and another to really set those brows in place. Whilst fiber-fueled brow gels do provide some hold, it typically does not last as long as a tried-true-and-tested strong hold brow gel. Our recommended best volumizing brow gels provide amazing texture, but they do struggle to keep pesky brow hairs in place. Our clear brow gel recommendations are provided with both comfort and hold in mind so there are no crispy brows in sight. Â
FOR BROW TEXTURE AND FLUFFINESS
*Hourglass Arch Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel
This fiber infused brow gel may be the best volumizing brow gel. With a perfect combination of hold and volume, this brow gel instantly adds an even layer of volume to each and every brow hair with many thanks to the dual-sided brush which features both short and long bristles allowing you to catch each and every hair. With a natural looking tint, this brow gel never looks fake or overly unnatural, but rather provides brows with realistic looking (and comfortable) texture that doesn’t flake or smudge. The hold isn’t the greatest, as brow hairs start to move about throughout the day.
*Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Eyebrow Gel
One of the original brow gels to pioneer textured and fiber filled brow gels, gimme brow contains tiny fibers which cling to your existing brow hairs for a volumized effect. The tiny brush allows for ultimate precision, giving you the ability to add texture to every patch of your brows. It does provide some hold, but it can feel dry. Its hold effects typically don’t last long, especially in warm and humid climates.
elf Wow Brow Fiber Brow Gel
This budget-friendly option rivals many of its high-end counterparts. With a sheer tint and buildable formula, this fiber brow gel provides fullness and volume within an instant. A slightly “wetter” formula than others, this formula contains a combination of waxes, gels, and clay, this may cause the formula to smudge, so setting with a clear gel is wise.Â
FOR BROW HOLD AND STAYING POWER
Makeup Revolution Clear Fixer Clear Brow Gel
*MAC Brow Set Brow Gel
This lightweight clear brow gel effortlessly grooms brows without feeling thick, greasy, or slimy. The perfectly balanced brow gel feels comfortable to wear as it keeps brows in place for hours (and without that dry and crispy feeling)

Two step lipsticks are generally considered to be quite an old school beauty product. Despite being super long lasting, their popularity has decreased in recent years as many people often opt for a modern mattifying liquid lipstick instead. Although liquid lipsticks may be easier to apply, they can also be incredibly drying and uncomfortable to wear. If staying power and comfort is what you’re after, a two step liquid lipstick may be the answer.
Start with entirely dry lips
Two step lipsticks are often met with a lot of confusion as many products contain a lip balm and a colour, but it’s important to resist the temptation of applying the lip balm first. It is essential you start the lipstick application process with completely dry lips, keep them as dry as possible (it’s best to moisturise the night before instead of the day of) and don’t apply lip balm.  If necessary, it may be helpful to press a light layer of mattifying powder over the lip surface before applying any colour, this will remove any remnants of moisture on the lips.
Apply colour
Wait a minute (or two)
After applying colour to the lips, it’s important you allow the colour to set and dry before moving on to the next step. Applying a top coat immediately after colour may cause the product to smear, flake off, or sheer down. For best results do not smack your lips together to distribute the colour, instead keep lips separated for as long as possible. Allow the lips to dry, so the colour sets. It can be helpful to pat the lips with your finger to ensure the colour is dry, if it transfers wait a little longer before applying the top coat)
Apply the top coat
To lock in the colour and ensure the product lasts all day it’s important to set and finish off the lips with a layer of the included top coat. Whilst it may be tempting to leave the colour matte, this can be quite drying and uncomfortable on the lips. The top coat provides a barrier between the colour and external factors (like drinking, eating, or kissing) so forgoing this step may result in the product and colour not lasting as long. If you prefer a matte finish, apply the top coat and blot off any extra shine with 1 ply of tissue. If any colour rubs off or transfers to the applicator whilst you are applying it, wait a little longer to ensure the product is properly set.
In this article, the demonstration was created using the L’Oreal Infallible 2 Step Liquid Lipstick, which is comfortable, pigmented, long wearing, and forgiving to lip texture (depending on the shade) On a personal note, they’re actually one of my favourite products of all time. The product provides all day wear from start to finish, through breakfast lunch and dinner. As the top coat fades lips are still left with a rich pigmented colour. The L’Oreal formula contains colour on one end and a clear, moisturising, balm top coat on the opposite side.
Other two step liquid lipsticks worth trying:
Rimmel Provocalips Lip Colour
A close contender to the L’Oreal Infallible variation, Rimmel is a fantastic option. The colour can need a little building up in some areas, but for the most part each shade comes out smooth, creamy, and saturated.  This variation contains a clear gloss top coat (instead of a balm) which provides a mirror effect and has a stickier consistency compared to balm.
Maybelline SuperStay 24HR 2-step Lipcolor
For those who prefer a more matte effect, the Maybelline Bold Matte Lip Colours are a solid option. The colour is pigmented and bold, creating a smooth and even colour. The top coat matte, waxy balm consistency which leaves lips with a matte finish. It’s important to let the product have enough time to dry as the matte balm can drag over the lips and pick up some of the colour if it’s not properly set.
Revlon ColorStay Overtime Colour
The Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor was one of the very first drugstore two step liquid lipsticks and a great option. With a liquid lipstick on one end and a clear gloss on the other (which provides lips with major glossy shine) the product lasts all day without the need for touch ups. The pigmentation is satisfactory (but can require a little building up) and the product can leave lips a little dry after continuous wear so it’s best for people who have healthy lips.
The Best Alternatives to Foundation - Tinted Creams and Skin Tints

If you’ve ever gone searching for an alternative to foundation, you’ve probably been told to use a tinted moisturiser or BB cream, but more often than not these embody all of the traits that most people hate in foundation, plus more. Whilst tinted moisturisers can be a great alternative to foundation, they’re often thick, greasy, prone to oxidization, take more work to apply and blend than regular foundation, have poor staying power, and an even worse shade range. Whilst there are some great tinted moisturisers (BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Recovery Gel for example) they’re not necessarily the only option when searching for an alternative to foundation.
This is not a generic list of tinted moisturiser recommendations, but rather a list of skin pick me ups. Moisturisers, creams, primers, and other products that nourish, give a naturally gorgeous glow and the illusion of an even skintone.
Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30
If you’re after the perfect product to moisturise skin, correct redness, AND provide sun protection, look no further than Dr Jart Cicapair. Whether you suffer from redness, sensitive skin, or just want a product that will make skin look great without all the woes of foundation, this product is a total must have. Upon application the product is a slightly thick green cream, but it quickly dissolves into a perfect, universal beige tint which counteracts redness, blurs pimples, and dries down to a skin-like matte finish. Moisturising and lightweight, the formula has an added bonus of SPF 30, making it the ultimate all-in-one foundation replacement.
MAC Strobe Cream
A cult favourite product and one of MAC’s most famous,  the MAC Strobe cream is a multi-use product loved by makeup artists, models, and beauty addicts worldwide. A lightweight moisturising cream, this is a product that can do wonders for the skin when worn alone. Available in many different shades of shimmer, this cream is the perfect pick me up for dull, tired, and lackluster skin. Best of all the variation of shades can help provide subtle colour correction to the skin: peach and red; which can help correct dullness and blue tones in the skin whilst gold can help with redness. There’s no need to worry about looking shimmery or glittery either, the shimmer particles are so fine they blend into skin seamlessly giving an iridescent, subtle glow. It’s a multi-use product too, use it in place of foundation, as a primer, mixed in with a foundation, or as a highlighter!
Laura Mercier Radiance Primer
Designed as a primer to be worn underneath foundation, this product is just as beautiful on its own. With a slight champagne yellow tone it helps to subtly counteract redness, blue tones, and dullness in the skin. The addition of light reflecting particles bounce light off the skin helping to diminish and soften the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, and freckles. It looks absolutely beautiful when worn alone, or as a substitute for foundation, for an even more flawless finish try buffing the product into the skin using a full, dense, buffing brush.
Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter
A unique, multi-use product, Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter is a product unlike anything else you’ve ever tried. A light to medium lotion, this “flawless filter” is really like a filter for your skin, blurring everything in sight. The formula has a medium tint (and comes in a multitude of different tints for different skintones) and packed full of the finest, light reflecting micro-particles to exist. When applied as a replacement for foundation is provides a gorgeous glow to the skin which looks natural and picks up light from different angles to give a 3-dimensional look. Best of all the product can also be used a primer for foundation/concealer, as a highlighter after foundation, or mixed in with your moisturiser, foundation, or primer for a subtle glow.
It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Rosy Tone Moisturizer
A new launch from It Cosmetics, the Confidence in a Cream Rosy Tone Moisturizer is perfect for anyone with dull, lackluster, discolored, or aged skin. Packed full of nourishing, and hydrating ingredients the rich cream gives a luminous glow to the skin whilst also resurfacing and re-texturing. A subtle pink rosy tint helps to enhance the appearance of the skin, brighten, and diminish the appearance of dark spots. It’s perfect as a supplement for foundation and gives skin a gorgeous healthy glow and colour. Side note: also check out the L’Oreal Perfect Cell Renewal Rosy Tone Moisturizer, they both have similar ingredients and purposes ( both feature Peony Extract and Lipohydroxy Acid as key ingredients) plus It Cosmetics and L’Oreal have the same parent company, so this is a great drugstore alternative!

John Frieda Sheer Blonde, Brilliant Brunette, and Radiant Red
John Frieda was one of the first brands to make at home hair care products to enhance hair colour for the mass market. The colour enhancing  hair care line contains three different ranges “Sheer Blonde” (a blonde brightening shade, an intensifying shade, a preserving shade, and a colour correcting shade) “Brilliant Brunette” (a brightening shade and a deepening shade) and “Radiant Red”. Each line has a shampoo and conditioner, but the blonde and brunette versions also have treatments and masks.

Evangeline’s Edition: Current Favourite Products
I’m always trying beauty products, and as a result, I’m always asked what my favourite products are, so here I’m bringing you “Evangeline’s Edition”, a round up of the current products that I’m obsessed with and give my tick of approval.
Wei Rice Sprout Express Glow Illuminating Mask
Wei Beauty is a brand I’ve been interested in trying for quite some time, the natural based skincare brand which uses techniques and ingredients from ancient Chinese medicine is all about balancing and brightening the skin. The Rice Water sprout face masks are individual, single-use face masks housed in a tube of potent serum for ultimate freshness. Once unraveled you apply the silk sheet mask to the skin and leave for 15 minutes, immediately after use my skin was slightly red (which is usual for any face mask used on my sensitive skin) but once it settled down, I was left with the most beautiful glowing complexion. Perhaps the best part of this face mask as opposed to many other sheet masks on the market is the left-over serum in the tube, a good 10-15 mls of the rich mixture which the sheet mask is drenched in can be used for multiple days after use (use it as your serum and moisturiser in one) giving you an almost 7-day skin treatment. The serum formula is a little sticky, but each morning I woke up with the most beautiful even, glowing, and brightened skin.
Davroe Curl Creme Definer
A niche, natural, and Aussie brand the Davroe Curl Definer Cream is something I tried by chance, and I’m so glad I did. A lightweight styling cream, this product has quickly become a staple in my hair care routine. After washing and towel drying my hair, I take a pea sized amount of the cream and work it through my hair, tousling as I go along. The texture is a little tacky during application, but it quickly dries down to a practically invisible product. It leaves hair so soft and touchable you wouldn’t even know a styling product had been used.  Since using this product, the texture of my hair has improved, (I have a lovely, healthy, touchable texture) my curls have a little more definition, and I don’t have anywhere near as much frizz.
It Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Dual Airbrush Concealer Brush #2
Airbrush concealer brushes are my ultimate favourite for blending concealer, especially underneath the eyes. A quick buff and blend, and the edges of concealer disappear, creating a naturally flawless and seamless effect to makeup. The it Cosmetics Concealer brush has just the right amount of density and softness to perfectly blend concealer on both dark circles and pimples (use a quick, gentle pressing motion with the more dense side and then gently blend out the edges using the softer side) Â The dual ended brush has protective caps which means you can toss it into your bag for easy on the go use (it also works great for blending out any makeup that has settled or creased throughout the day.
By Terry Lip-Expert Shine Liquid Lipstick
By Terry is definitely a luxe brand, and only one I’ve recently started experimenting with. Their new liquid lipsticks come in both a glossy and matte finish and are very much reminiscent of the original YSL Glossy Stains. With a painstakingly similar scent (and texture) these tinted liquid lipsticks are ultra-creamy and have great pigment. The glossy shade gives full, show-stopping gloss to the lips, the matte shade is not a true matte, in the sense of a fast drying, powder finish liquid lipstick, but rather a creamy, semi-matte finish with a natural creamy hint of shine. The formula itself has a lot of slip, so the finish isn’t the most long lasting, but once the gloss and cream wears off you are left with a stain of colour.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
As someone who suffers from dry lips, I’m always on the prowl for lip care products which do more than just provide a layer of protection to the lips. An ultra-nourishing treatment, the Lanegie Lip Masks are undoubtedly one of the most exciting (and very best) lip treatments I’ve tried. Taking the place of a rich, creamy, and emollient lip balm that is designed to provide ongoing, intensive hydration to the lips. Designed to be used as an overnight, sleeping mask this lip treatment can also be worn during the day when lips need some extra nourishment and hydration. After hours of use the product makes an obvious improvement to the condition of the lips, as texture and flakiness decreases, and lips feel soft, silky, and smooth.

Face masks have really improved recently and a lot beauty brand have come up with new and exciting ways of updating them! Quick, fast, easy, and effective these are not the green sludge you used to plaster on your face during a sleepover party!
Yes To SnapStick Charcoal Face Mask
This Charcoal Clay Mask from Yes To is a simple concept that is super smart. This face mask in a “stick” can be applied directly onto the face and works in just five minutes. The stick means the product has no mess, and the face mask dries quickly and also provides immediate results. We can’t understand why a face mask stick hasn’t been done before, but we hope to see more of them!
Garnier Fresh Mix Tissue Mask Hyaluronic Shot
The Garnier Fresh Mix Tissue Mask’s are a great new face mask! This sheet mask is not like others as it requires you to DIY mix it. The face mask is separated into two sections with an intense serum (the amount included is as concentrated as one bottle of serum) and a tissue mask. Once mixed, the tissue turns into a soft gel face mask that moisturises and softens skin. The mask gives glowing and hydrated results which are two things we love.
Skin Republic Pink Clay Mud Sheet Mask
SkinRepublic are one of our favourite sheet masks brands, each face mask is affordable and effective. The SkinRepublic Pink Clay Mud Mask is a clay mask and sheet mask in one and combines the convenience of a sheet mask with the cleansing properties of a mud mask. The formula removes dirt and oil so it’s great for oily and congested skin. It is very easy to use application is easy and there is no brush or messy fingers.
Olay Magnemasks Infusion Hydrating Starter Kit
Olay Magnemasks are unlike any face masks we have seen before! The face mask is a rich gel formula that turns into a liquid once it hits the skin, so the formula is very lightweight. The mask contains ingredients that react to a magnet (these ingredients are Pentapeptide, Niacinamide) and when they are used with the specially designed magnetic infuser all ingredients are pushed into the skin for fast results. This face mask also works as an overnight mask that doesn’t need to be washed off so you will wake up with fresh, rejuvenated, and youthful looking skin
Foreo UFO Mini Smart Mask
The Foreo UFO Mask is definitely out of this world! This face mask received a lot of recognition when it was announced and we aren’t shocked. The “UFO” is a skincare tool that works with special sheet masks to deliver results in 90 seconds. With LED light technology that warms and pulsates the sheet mask ingredients are pushed into the skin to give professional spa like results!
BeautyBlender Bounce Liquid Whip Long Wear Foundation Review
BeautyBlender’s new Bounce Foundation is a launch that had everyone talking from the moment it was announced. Now available in Australia (exclusive to Sephora) the foundation is easily one of the most ground-breaking formulas on the market and it’s actually one of the few foundations I’m most personally excited about. A few years ago, what stood to be my favourite foundation was discontinued (an old school formula of Rimmel Match Perfection Luminous Light Perfecting Foundation) and I have been on the hunt for a formula that performs just as good ever since, a hop skip and a bounce into the future and I found it.
A lightweight air whipped style texture is the overall formula of the foundation, it’s not thick or greasy in any way shape or form, but instead takes the place of a mousse consistency which feels soft and comfortable on the skin. The unique texture also has a slight blurring effect; it smooths over imperfections and texture on the skin so if scarring or flakiness are two issues you encounter you can rest assured this is a foundation that will not accentuate these.
The formula can be applied with either a beauty blender or a brush, a beauty blender will allow you to have more control and slowly build up the coverage whilst a brush will allow you to apply and blend product seamlessly without a sponge absorbing the foundation and wasting product. In my person experience I found a combination of both brush and sponge gave the best results.
Once applied, the foundation settles down to a soft, natural, and demi-matte finish which allows for just a hint of natural shine from the skin to come through without being greasy or overly matte, the flawless airbrushed finish the foundation gives is undeniable, it makes skin look incredible and naturally perfect. Every skin type will have success with the finish of this foundation, but it can also be mattified further with powder or made super dewy if skin is prepped with hydrating and illuminating products.Â
Staying power is another key attribute of determining whether a foundation is a good one, and whilst the 24hr claim may be a little far stretched, the staying power is impressive and the foundation manages to stay put with a flawless finish for hours on end. A primer will give you a longer period of wear time, but the foundation has great staying power on its own, and even without a primer, setting spray, or powder, the foundation looks great and lasts well.
Housed in a bottle with an airless pump (which also has a “lock” to prevent the product accidentally leaking) the product stays fresher for longer and allows you to control the amount of product you wish to use. It doesn’t stop there though, the best feature of the packaging is undoubtedly the “palette” functionality, pumping the product automatically dispenses it onto a stainless-steel palette from where you can mix and work product into your brush/tools without having to use the back of your hands.
Oxidization can often be a concern with foundation, but it’s not one that’s warranted with this one. According to beauty blender the pigments have been dried down completely before being added to the foundation so there’s no possibility of the pigments and shades shifting and darkening.
Above: Full Makeup Look, Bare Skin, Foundation Only
The shade range is pretty standard, but there is definitely some room for improvement and expansion of the shade range. Whilst I was able to find a perfect match for my porcelain skin tone (I wasn’t even the lightest shade for once!) others on the opposite end of the spectrum may have some difficulty finding a perfect match.
The verdict? BeautyBlender Bounce Foundation is 100% worth the hype, and I would not hesitate to claim it as one of my all-time favourite foundation formulas, if this is any example of what is to come from BeautyBlender in the future, then I cannot wait to see what comes next.

Evangeline’s Edition: Current Favourite Products
I’m always trying beauty products, and as a result, I’m often asked what my favourite products are, so here I’m bringing you “Evangeline’s Edition”, a round up of the current products that I’m obsessed with and give my tick of approval.
SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Hydrating Body Wash
As someone with sensitive skin I have to be especially cautious about the body care products I use, body wash in particular. Although not the most glamorous beauty product, it is one that’s a daily essential. The SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Hydrating Body Wash is my current go-to body wash and product of choice that constantly remains in my shower. With a soft, “clean” scent, it gently cleanses the skin without any irritation and leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated. Enriched with Shea Butter and free of harsh ingredients like sulphates, it’s such a nourishing formula that one could even forgo the body lotion. Somehow this amazing formula even manages to leave beautiful, subtle glossy glow to the shoulders and legs.
Yes To SnapStick Charcoal Face Mask
It’s not very often that I get this excited about a product (especially since I try so many) but the Yes To Tomatoes SnapStick mask is easily one of my favourite beauty launches of 2018. Packaged in an easy to use stick, this charcoal face mask can be applied in just 60 seconds without any mess (no messy fingers or face mask brushes needed) the mask dries within 10 minutes, deeply cleansing and helping to draw out impurities from the skin. It has quickly become a must-have in my skincare routine and a part of my weekly ritual. With a face mask this easy to use available there really is no excuse not to give your skin a bit of a treat, it’s so foolproof you could even apply it without a mirror.
Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter
On days when I can’t be bothered with a full face of makeup, but still want to give my skin a little pick me up I tend to reach for a light reflecting, illuminating primer (Laura Mercier Radiance Primer is my ultimate fave) Recently I’ve been loving the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter which rides the line between an illuminating primer and a tinted moisturiser. The formula contains high amounts of ultra-fine, pearlescent shimmers which give a really beautiful ethereal, lilt-within look which is subtle enough to be worn all over the face. It smooths and blends over the skin with absolute ease, blurs imperfections, and hydrates without looking greasy or overly shimmery. Use it as a primer, a highlighter, or mixed in with foundation (this plus the Magic Foundation is a dream combination)
Lanolips Hydrating Lip Luminiser
Lanolips have long been a favourite brand of mine when it comes to lip care. A cult Aussie fave (both in Australia and around the world) the medical grade lanolin range of lip products (and now skincare) does a fantastic job at protecting and nourishing. The Lanolips Lip Luminisers are a new addition to the brand and one that I’m absolutely loving. I’ve long been a fan of the Tinted Balms with SPF, and these are definitely a great addition to the range. Consisting of two shades (Beach Pop and Desert Glow) these sheer tinted lip balms are loaded with beautiful iridescent shimmer which catches the light, giving a plump effect and making the lips look larger. Ultra hydrating, nourishing, and creamy a mix of plant oils and lanolin glide over the lips and leave them with a glossy finish. Try them as a highlighter on the cheekbones or on the cheeks for a gorgeous glossy, shimmer-packed glow.
Jurlique Nail and Cuticle Treatment Oil
For many years I neglected my nails, but in the past few I’ve become just a little bit obsessed with nail care. Beautiful, well-groomed, healthy nails that extend just past the fingertips in an oval shape make me swoon. Although I don’t necessarily tend to experiment much (nude nail polish is more my thing) I’m adamant on having healthy nails. Each night I apply cuticle oil onto my nails & cuticles for optimal nail health. My current go-to is the Jurlique Nail and Cuticle Treatment Oil. An ultra rich and decadent formula, the oil has the most beautiful botanical scent, much like a luxurious hand lotion. With over 5 oils and a range of natural extracts, the oil is so concentrated it resembles a balm of sorts when first applied, acting as a barrier as the ingredients work to deeply nourish nails and cuticles. From the first use it soothes inflamed cuticles and hydrates the nails, and for those who regularly wear gel nails, it even helps to treat fixing peeling, cracking, ridges, and brittleness.
