14. How much of their body language have they taken on from the animal form that they are in?

a lot of it tbh?? i’ve always seen jedd as a very feral sort of daemon. maybe not in the sense that like...xerxes was, but given that he doesn’t speak very much when he and stevie are around other people, it’s kind of easier for him to slip into being Spooky Wolverine Daemon and for others to see him that way.

that being said, the way he’ll occasionally sprawl out with noelle and barra is 500% puppy and do not let him or stevie convince you otherwise.

8. What are they like whilst shopping? Do they help carry some of the groceries, do they remind their other half of what they still need to get?

THESE TWO ARE. LITERALLY THE WORST TO TAKE SHOPPING. FYI.

because oswin will, like, go in with a list of Specific Things she needs to buy which is all well and good but then she’ll wander down some of the aisles and suddenly wow she really needs that and that and THIS THING, and all the while, os is bouncing at her side or running ahead and finding things like oSWIN LOOK AT THIS WHAT COULD WE MAKE WITH THIS and they eventually leave with nothing they came for, but things for like 800 new baking recipes.

39 - Who initiated the relationship? Who kissed who first?  When did they realize they were in love?

uGH MAN. honestly, i feel like mel was the one who really initiated things, if only because lawrence risked a whole lot more if he came out and said he was in love with his boss’s daughter, thunder mesa’s version of high society, and she felt uncomfortable with it. not that he thought she would do anything to him, but still, there was that kind of...sense of propriety and not wanting to scare her off that kept him from anything beyond vague, harmless flirting.

and then of couse you have mel who has no idea what to do in a romantic relationship beyond what she’s read about in books, so when their conversation one night idly ends up turning to that sort of thing she just.....panics and does what one of the heroines in her stories would do around the romantic hero and just kind of going for it before jUMPING back like “OH MY GOD IM SORRY WAS THAT OKAY”

and they’re both like stupid blushing sixteen year olds at this point, so the actual confessions are kind of awkward, but in a sweet sort of way, and from then on it’s smooth sailing as far as their feelings for each other are concerned until uh. the wedding day but let’s not get into that.

23 - How do they hug? Kiss? Tease? Flirt? Comfort?

physical contact is kind of touch-and-go for margot, given that mason just...had no respect for her personal space and was so casually touchy with her all the time. rather than flinch or tense up, like most people would assume others who weren't so fond of physical contact would do, margot just kind of...takes it. she learned a long time ago not to give mason any sort of reaction to go off on, whether it be an emotional one or a physical one. 

and this is obviously a factor in her and alana's relationship as far as kisses and hugs and cuddling goes, but the thing is that, on some level, margot wants to be physically close to alana and, when she can be comfortable with it, that contact helps her to feel safe. it's just about overcoming her reservations and all those things that mason instilled in her. 

in general, they take it pretty slow, but once margot can get comfortable, she's far from against it.

she also isn't all that used to being comforted, and i feel like alana probably knows that and goes out of her way to be kind of subtle about it?? she knows how to read margot well enough to know what exactly to say to her without it coming off as pity or anything she'd be liable to lash out against

flirting happens 24/7 tho they are the least subtle people in the entire world and it's awful.

29 - How do the handle disasters or emergencies? Minor injuries? Sickness?

...can either of them really get hurt or sick is the question tbh

as far as emergencies/disasters go, though, oswin is pretty much hardwired by this point to deal with them as effectively as she possibly can. she's still a companion, after all this time, and is thus used to thinking on her feet and getting herself and everyone around her out of bad situations. add to that her general cleverness and quick-thinking and she's just...a badass when it comes to this kind of thing.

so, while katherine's running for the hills to save herself, oswin stays behind to help out whoever she can and save as many people as possible. she might get huffy at her later, but by this point, she kind of knows that's just...katherine's nature.

5 - Nicknames? Pet names? Any in-jokes?

THROWBACK TUESDAY HERE WE GO

Any special memories? Do they have a special place they like to go to?

oswin’s absolute favorite ten-related memory was her first night on-board the TARDIS. everything was kind of tentative and uncertain, given that ten had just come off losing donna and wasn’t sure of where he stood with having another companion, and oswin had just...come off the fucking dalek thing. she really should have been resting after that and the whole weeping angel ordeal, but she absolutely begged him to take her star-gazing, enough so that he couldn’t refuse.

if fact, he even showed off some by just taking the TARDIS up into space and opening the door to let her watch the stars that way.

and of course, after a few minutes of that, he just had to come over and join her, and they kind of went from standing next to each other to hand-holding to oswin just....abandoning everything to lean against him because fuck if she wasn’t going to get her some comfort after everything she’d been through. for once, neither of them really said much, but it was just sort of this moment of both of them beginning to quietly heal and....yeah. oswin held that close to her heart until the very end.

☻ - how your character hugs

these days, oswin’s hugs are the sort that start out kind of tentative, which tends to be kind of unexpected, given how casually tactile she can be. but the fact remains that she’s had a loooot of friends who aren’t really down with hugs or physical contact at all, so there’s always that moment of hesitation that she allows both herself and the other person the opportunity to push her away, if need be. it’s almost kind of sad tbh like she’s so used to not really having her affection returned, or only returned with some reluctance or hesitance, but at the same time, physical affection is so much of how she communicates so she can’t just….give it up entirely. 

the only person she was entirely confident with was the doctor, and even then, she had to be careful with him towards the end, given that uh. his heartbeats were even more tempting than a normal person’s single one. 

sO YEAH that hesitance is there both because she’s used to people not responding right away and because she sometimes needs a moment to be able to trust herself not to just…casually rip someone’s throat out. her control is a lot better than it used to be, but she’s still overly careful regardless.

♐ - how your character fights

looooots of defense tbh. she’s still kind of figuring out her own strength, and even when defending herself, the last thing she wants to do is accidentally kill someone or something. that, and anything offense tends to rile up those predator instincts, which is a generally uncomfortable feeling for her and tends to lead to some brooding, even if she can control them well enough, usually. 

she does a lot of weaving and dodging and using her generally smaller size to her advantage. if she absolutely has to incapacitate someone, it’s usually done in a way that will possibly hurt her opponent the least, and honestly she just…tends to avoid outright fighting anyone in general. but, if it comes down to defending herself, she’ll do it.

melanie:

☞ - how your character talks

iiiit depends on who she’s talking to! generally, though, mel tends to be on the formal side, choosing her words carefully and occasionally hesitating to mull over what she wants to say exactly. she’s still kind of getting the hang of talking to other people at all, and while she’s certainly better at it than she used to be, it’s still very much a work in progress. her voice tends to lean towards being softer and quieter than most, and one might almost mistake her for being shy, if they didn’t know any better.

with people she’s a more familiar with, she’s less afraid of messing up any social convention, and therefore she’ll usually gain a little more confidence in herself. her pauses will be less frequent and her tone of voice will ultimately be steadier, given that most of her friends know that she has plenty of reason to uh….not be all that great with interaction in general. there’ll be less need to pretend, and that notion usually helps a great deal. she’ll also be just a little more prone to gentle teasing and being more light-hearted, uncertain though it might be.

ironically, the only time she’s completely steady and confident is whenever she and henry are confronting each other, because she just point-blank refuses to let him see her any other way. her resolve to stand up to him now, after decades of being submissive and distant, is pretty damn powerful, and she’s definitely not beneath throwing some shade whenever she can.

☾- how this character sleeps

mel is a super restless sleeper tbh. oddly enough, when she does get to sleep, she’s not really a light sleeper, especially if she’s gone for a long time without doing so (which is still a bad habit she has on denny), but she tosses and turns, especially if she’s having a nightmare (which are pretty common these days), and ends up tangling herself in her bedsheets and it’s just…..not pretty. rip anyone who tries to sleep next to her tbh.

clara:

♦ - how this character kisses

alright let’s get one thing out of the way and say that she doesn’t do a lot of properly romantic kissing. or like. any. ever.

if the feeling behind it is genuine, she tends to go for cheek kisses. they’re usually gentle enough, but firm too. very sort of no-nonsense, really, the sort you’d expect from a victorian governess, even an unconventional one like clara. there’s affection behind it, certainly, but also a sense that she’s not going to be particularly sappy about it either, unless she’s been caught in a mood to be so.

but, there’s also the matter of her kissing eleven to address, aaand lbr that was like….the furthest thing from romantic. she kissed him to fluster him, to gain the upper hand in the situation and to show that this was the power she could wield over him, the power to make him blush like a schoolboy and be reduced to a flailing mess. if she’s kissing someone like that, it’s typically a manipulative gesture, and she’ll adjust just how it comes off as needed. depending on what the situation is, it could range from soft and gentle to passionate and forceful. 

misty:

☼ - you choose!: what this character’s hand movements are like

misty tends to talk with her hands a lot, and her gestures can get pretty sweeping if she’s excited. she also like to do a lot of hand-holding, if she’s comfortable enough with someone, usually in a gesture of comfort. ooother than that, they’re pretty unremarkable??? i’ll have to keep an eye out for this kind of thing in my coven rewatch whoops.

mel - sleep

sleeping is tentatively getting easier for mel, especially like actually going to sleep in her own bed instead of passing out in Weird Places around the manor. that still occasionally happens, but not with as much frequency as before. buut, even so, she’s an extremely light sleeper and often restless because nightmares are very much a thing. plus she’s sort of almost trained herself to be that way too because that day might come where henry manages to breach the protective charms placed around the manor and she sure as hell doesn’t want him to catch her vulnerable if that ever happens.

plus like......her bedroom still has a lot of not-so-nice memories attached to it, like the boudoir scene in the ride is so fucking sad so occasionally she’ll feel uneasy just being in there, but she’s stubbornly refusing to move elsewhere so.

mel - childhood (part 2)

so, mel got all of her schooling from tutors that henry hired but she was....absolutely the worst student ever like all she wanted to do when she was a kid was go outside and explore the gardens and the grounds. up until the age of like twelve, she absolutely hated sitting still for anything, never mind boring lessons. the only exception to this was her music tutor, a woman who taught her the fine points of singing and....attempted to teach her piano but that was quickly abandoned when it was discovered she had more vocal talent. 

but yeah having to teach her anything else was a nightmare and henry probs had to pay these tutors like extra to get them to stay so his daughter could be ~high society

mel - pet peeves (part 2)

she haaaaates noise. like, back when she was alive, noise and bustle were fine and actually welcome given that the manor was normally pretty quiet, but now like...loud noise especially is so jarring and overwhelming and usually just causes her to clock right out of a situation. it’s why she tends to seek out quieter places to be these days, like the manor or somewhere out in the woods she can rift-hop to.

vivi - living space

SO I’M NOT SURE HOW THINGS ARE GOING TO WORK OUT HERE TBH BUT i’ll do some headcanons for her apartment in new orleans, if things go in that direction! it’s a little studio apartment because she really only needs room for herself and mystery and dario (and lewis and violeta when they show up) and tbh she kind of likes just having one little space to herself. it’s got sort of that witchy aesthetic going on with little racks of herbs and crystals hanging in the windows and candles and spellbooks open everywhere.  

it’s also magically protected from dark spirits because, like i mentioned, they could easily follow her or mystery home from investigations and that’s uh. Not Good. she’ll have to make some adjustments, tho, when it comes to lewis being there because locking the bf out is also Not Good.

vivi - religion

vivi’s religious beliefs are pretty varied! she has a little pagan, a little shinto and buddist and some others thrown in there too. as a medium, she communes with spirits and as a witch, taps into the power of quite a few minor gods and goddesses so honestly it’s all just a big mismash.

 misty - daemon au

even though misty and rhia are separated, they don’t really like....make use of that a lot and generally keep it under wraps. the circumstances of their separation were extremely traumatic, and while misty has picked herself up and moved on from that for the most part, that’s still a major weak spot for her. so yeah, rhia doesn’t leave her side too often, even though some people might criticize her for not using a separated bird daemon to her full extent.

the only time she will go fruther away than a normal daemon is if either she and glouce are on some kind of Mission or something, and even then, she and misty only a little bit more comfortable with that.

oswin - daemon au

so oswin’s doesn’t actually sleep much these days because she doesn’t have to, but whenever she does, she uses os as a pillow because he is now Big and Fluffy. like you’d think him becoming this massive beast of a dog would make being cuddly more difficult than when he was a little dog, but nope.
