14. How much of their body language have they taken on from the animal form that they are in?

a lot of it tbh?? i’ve always seen jedd as a very feral sort of daemon. maybe not in the sense that like...xerxes was, but given that he doesn’t speak very much when he and stevie are around other people, it’s kind of easier for him to slip into being Spooky Wolverine Daemon and for others to see him that way.

that being said, the way he’ll occasionally sprawl out with noelle and barra is 500% puppy and do not let him or stevie convince you otherwise.

8. What are they like whilst shopping? Do they help carry some of the groceries, do they remind their other half of what they still need to get?

THESE TWO ARE. LITERALLY THE WORST TO TAKE SHOPPING. FYI.

because oswin will, like, go in with a list of Specific Things she needs to buy which is all well and good but then she’ll wander down some of the aisles and suddenly wow she really needs that and that and THIS THING, and all the while, os is bouncing at her side or running ahead and finding things like oSWIN LOOK AT THIS WHAT COULD WE MAKE WITH THIS and they eventually leave with nothing they came for, but things for like 800 new baking recipes.

Sam & Felicity

What are they like around others? Quiet? Loud? Wary? Fel has these occasional outbursts that she’ll subject others to. If she picks up on something in particular that someone’s said that irks her/Sam or is important information in regards to a case, she won’t often let it rest, being sure to let Sam know about the matter with a nudge. However during more mentally straining days, she tends to fall into silence, letting Sam do most of the talking.

How talkative is their dæmon? What tone of voice do they have? She’s a blend of quiet and loud, fluctuating between being fairly talkative on any given day with a passionate air about her, to lapsing into silence for stretches of time. She sounds a little strict more often than not with a fairly deep voice, her tone changing to something a little more gentle in the presence of those that mean a lot to her.

What do they like/dislike about their person? Do they both get along well or not at all? They fluctuate between care and dislike often, feeling a need to distance themselves from one another at times, to getting into arguments behind closed doors. They co-operate, it cannot be said that they don’t but, as much as they mutually enjoy deceiving and manipulating those around them, they both have their differences. Differences that often cause a few gaps in that bridge that connects them. Lystanarr dislikes his wrath, the self-hatred that is split between them both. But, she does enjoy those rare moments of quiet that fall between them, of a sense of something that can almost resemble peace amidst the hurricane of emotions that shift and shift between them time and time again.

If their person is of a species separate from a human, what differences do they have that is present on or around their form/s? Do they have golden horns, a glow around them, a smoky look? Golden markings illuminate her wings undersides, tinting the feathers edges and circling around the sides of her eyes (alternating to her throat in any non-bird form in the former), as Loki is initiating his sorcery, certain individual markings of light will change hue, reflecting the different forms of magic that her other half is manipulating. The markings are old Nordic runes each with their own separate meaning from Luck, to Frost and the word for Magic itself.

2. Are they separated or bonded? If separated, do they prefer to do their own thing often or stick by their other half? How do they feel about their limitations if they’re bonded?

separated! and honestly that ability to gain distance is necessary. things wouldn’t have gone half as smoothly if they were bound to each other’s sides. while chiasa feels a need to stick around and speak up when hao gets too emotional, hold him back - or just remind him that she’s watching, that part of his heart cares about what he’s doing - she’s more than willing to keep some distance between them otherwise, and often they leave each other for quite long periods, pursuing their own interests or interacting with different people to ease the tension between them

3. What do they like/dislike about their person? Do they both get along well or not at all?

they... don’t get along well haha

chiasa is consistently disappointed by how cruel hao can be, how easily he threatens or destroys lives just because he can. he’s fallen so far, in her opinion, and it’s a... constant argument between them, if he can be redeemed, whether he wants to be redeemed. 

but at his most whimsical, hao can be so, so kind, and she tries to encourage his empathy, his capability to care and understand those who’ve suffered. too quickly, that empathy can turn into rage for those who’ve caused that suffering - but if she can get him to stay there, just a little longer, each time...

13. What is their body language like to an outsider? Do they mimic certain hints of the body language of their person?

cat and astyrian share the trait of looking aloofly uninterested in Everything that’s going on. it doesn’t matter if it’s a supervillain attack or a ruined dinner, they Just Don’t Care, just look at them

however, he looks far more idle and languid, as if he’s just constantly on the edge of falling back asleep from how boring everything is. he’ll half-doze during a conversation as cat chides someone, and then turn it around in a moment of intensified focus that leaves those on the receiving end feeling they’ve been pinned down by an all too knowing stare

14. How much of their body language have they taken on from the animal form that they are in?

quite a bit, when it... benefits him. people who know cat beyond just her success and fame keep an eye on his tail to gauge their moods, never take his apparent state of rest seriously

his ears are also pretty expressive, and while he makes some effort to hold back from making any kind of audible noise, he occasionally can’t stifle a hiss. usually when maxwell lord is on camera, talking about, idk, Standing Ground against the Alien Threat

7. How do they interact with other dæmons? What about their person? Do they ignore conventions and talk to their other halves only or additionally? Or do they ignore others around them?

fukushu’s scale of interaction goes between Grouchy Silence to Murderous Rage and the latter tends to have her barrelling for their throat v quickly. she usually has some control over the latter - there were some nasty, almost violent incidents when they first started training under orochimaru - and she only opens up a bit more around sasuke himself, usually to offer curt advice or suggestions on what they should be doing, or observations during battle

there is a very short list of people who can drag actual conversations out of her, that being itachi’s daemon before... everything, sakura and naruto’s daemons - kakashi’s daemon is Kind Of A Mess so they tend to hang out in wary silence together - and rarely, team taka. she’s weirdly protective of the latter, which makes her snappish but it... still kind of counts.

11. Do they have any nervous habits? Such as twirling their person’s hair or hopping from foot to foot?

mostly, just reflexively clenching her talons - a thing which makes sasuke glad he has several layers between her claws and his shoulder

Sabitsuki

Immediately when I thought of Sabitsuki I knew she would have some form of reptile. A lot of them live in solitude and rarely socialize with others of their kind, which echoes Sabi’s nature. However, one in particular caught my attention out of all of the rest: the gila monster. A reptile thought of, in myths, to cause more damage through their venomous bite than what really occurs in reality. It was stated in the past that they were aggressive, portrayed the arrival of sickness and could easily kill humans with a single bite. However, they are in fact passive, threatening only when they feel threatened themselves. They are also known to share their shelters with others of their kind, echoing both the way in which Sabitsuki behaves around others and how she will maim or kill only when she deems it is truly needed. The shadow of her ailment following her as much as it follows him. 

He is Sabitsuki’s protector, an anchor in a world that seems so cold. Jiyū - a message of freedom. Freedom from Sabitsuki’s illness. He keeps her steady during the worst days, an ever present comfort. His rough quips only for her, his dry sense of humour for everyone else.

You’ll never find him straying far. He’ll curl up within the hood of her hoodie or drape about her neck, watching the world around him through half-closed eyes. 

He is a constant presence that is solid and real. Someone, Sabitsuki knows, will always be there by her side.

Spyro

But with Spyro I see him as having a Indian gray mongoose! They may be small but boY are they powerful and incredibly determined. They can take down cobras and mann, that is something. But! When I think of a mongoose, I also think of the book Rikki Tikki Tavi which features a protective and loyal mongoose who fends off and kills a king cobra in an effort to protect a child from it’s bite. And Spyro, he’d do anything for his friends, his family and even those he’s just met! If they’re in danger, he’d swoop right in to save them, it doesn’t matter if he’ll then - by extent - be in danger himself - their lives are more important.

And his daemon is just as loyal, loving and protective as him, swooping in alongside him to help someone in need and fend off possible daemon attacks with smarts and her agility. Except, she’s also more open to their anxiety. More likely to be seen glancing around with a worried air or murmur her concerns to Spyro as she rubs her paws over her snout. 

And in the presence of those she cares about, she becomes more open, much more prone to jokes and the occasional snarky remark.

Would it be cheating if I said neither? 

Okay, so they didn’t really do a hella good job with the last episode. Like... not at all. It was... predictable. From almost the second episode you could tell that the classic way that this was gonna go was you’d have to sacrifice Chloe to make a ‘morally sound’ choice. 

But here’s the thing: I love Chloe Price. She means everything to me, as a character. And she’s been through a shitload of stuff and (in my opinion, and as I feel a kinship with her) is probably mentally ill (BPD, I’d say, among some other things). The entire game built you up to have this friendship (and more) with her, to be close to her, to be saving her constantly. Max is so in love with Chloe Price, it’s sickeningly sweet. 

That being said, no way would I ever sacrifice my Chloe. But does that mean I’d sacrifice the town? No way! I’m really really disappointed over the choice at the end, and I’m kind of in denial of that being what happened anyway. I prefer AUs and the like. That’s where the game stopped feeling... real to me, I guess. I mean... at the end I remember it’s a video game. And so I emotionally disconnected from the ‘moral’ choice and instead chose to save the girl that I and Max are in love with.
