I mean I could do Actual Proper Librarians, but that's not nearly as fun as The Librarians

1. Lucy Preston has been the Librarian for a long time, and she's good at it. Sure, sometimes it gets lonely with only Connor and Denise for company - especially since they hardly ever leave the Library. But hey, she gets to travel the world, learn so much about so many different things, and then there's the magic, so yeah. Maybe she'd like some company sometimes, but she wouldn't trade this gig for anything

2. Lucy's Seen A Lot, but somehow she's still surprised when a man shows up at the Library out of the blue one day, through the back door, without tripping the intruder alert. Lucy's convinced at first that he's one of the many Bad Guys (I mean look at him, he's obviously a Bad Guy) that have tried to get their grubby mitts on the artifacts over the years, but the Library? Seems to like him? And the Library's always been a good judge of character, but honestly. But the absolute weirdest bit is when he informs her, cool as you please, that his name is Garcia Flynn and he's her Guardian

3. Lucy's all Joke's on you, tree man, I don't have a Guardian and Flynn's like you do now, and when Lucy comes back with Says Who he hits her with a crooked grin and a Says You and hands her a journal written in her own handwriting, what the actual Freaking what and Denise and Connor are watching this like it's a tennis match and when Lucy tells them I Have Never Seen This Man Before in My Life they just grin and say We've been trying to get you to work with a Guardian for years, obviously Future!Lucy has more sense than you, we bless this union my children

4. At first Lucy is not vibing at all with this situation. Having a gun-toting ent trailing in her wake is really cramping her style. How is she supposed to retrieve artifacts when he keeps shooting her contacts?! (Flynn, patiently: Lucy, your last 'contact' tried to steal your soul and feed it to a spider demon, I don't think shooting him was an overaction Lucy: it's not my fault it was a slow Thursday! And anyway we got the Vial o' Venom, so I'd say it was a resounding success) Slowly, though, they develop a System wherein Lucy Retrieves Artifacts and Flynn Has Her Back, and it gets to the point where they can communicate with a head tilt and a raised eyebrow (which is really handy if you're afraid of being overheard) and eventually even Lucy has to admit that she doesn't know how she survived so long without him (Flynn, grinning: I told you we'd be quite the team one day Lucy, blushing: shaddup, dork)

5. Eventually they become parents to three baby Librarians, Rufus, an engineer who can build anything (he's basically a one-man A-Team montage), Jiya, a streetwise hacker who occasionally Sees Things, and Wyatt, ex-special forces and secret art history professor. And at first Flynn isn't too happy to have them crash the party (we're already a great double feature, we don't need a series) but Lucy (and the Library) Insist (Lucy: look at them, Flynn, they're so Tiny and Adorable Flynn: have you... Have you ever looked in a mirror...?) But they're so helpless in the field (good at the magic, but hopeless at self-preservation, and besides, Wyatt's outrage every time Flynn saves his life is hilarious) that he can't help but feel responsible for them, and their dorkiness is kind of endearing, and okay, fine, they're our children now, but I will Not be a single father here (Jiya: you two are cute, how long have you been together? Lucy: wut Flynn: see, sweetheart, I told you there was no point in Hiding our Love)

Wonder where this idea came from

1. Princess Lucy has trained her entire life to rule her country. She knows her duty, knows one day she'll be expected to marry for politics, knows she can't fall in love with just anyone. She knows this, in her head. Unfortunately, her heart hasn't gotten the memo, and refuses to accept that Tol snarky bodyguards are not the stuff political alliances are made of

2. Garcia Flynn has been Lucy's personal bodyguard for several years now. He knows how determined she is, knows she would rather study history than make it (unless she would make it by being a world famous singer), knows she's more likely to be killed by tripping on air and breaking her neck than assassination (has saved her from her own lack of coordination more times than he really cares to think about), knows she can't dance (see lack of coordination), knows she is unfailingly kind, and knows he's hopelessly in love with her

3. Since they both refuse to acknowledge what can never be, neither knows how the other feels (well, they're both convinced they're Super Obvious and the other Knows but doesn't feel the same, but they're actually oblivious), and they are both resigned to Pining From Afar. Except they can't really pine from afar because they spend almost every waking hour together and it's Torture but they're both resolved to Suffer in Silence. That works right up until Flynn has the bright idea to try to teach Lucy to dance, and there's music and laughing and holding and Gazing into Each Other's Eyes and Ignored Feelings Coming to the Fore and Leaning In...

4. And they're interrupted by a legit assassination attempt, and suddenly Flynn has to spirit Lucy away to a royal safe house until the assassins can be caught and dealt with. So now they're living together in closeish quarters, isolated from the rest of the world, just them and their Feelings which aren't so unrequited after all. And they still know they can't act on them, but it's so much harder to remember why, and it's so much nicer to pretend they have a future

‘Why are you dressed like that?’

Garcia looked down at his outfit and back up to Lucy with a smirk. ‘I,’ he announced as he flipped the hood of his cloak up - she suspected it was one of the ones he'd appropriated on a mission, as were most of the clothes in the dress-up trunk - and brandished a beach ball that dangled from an empty wrapping paper tube by a duct tape chain, ‘am the Witch King of Angmar. And she's Eowyn, Shieldmaiden of Rohan,’ he added with a bow to Grace.

Usually their positions are reversed; usually he's the one holding her together when it all becomes too much and she starts to come apart at the seams.

But when she finds him curled in a hidden corner of the bunker, looking smaller than she's ever seen and absolutely shattered, she doesn't hesitate, doesn't need to think - she drops beside him and wraps him in her arms and tucks his head on her shoulder.

1. Lucy Preston drops out of her prestigious finishing school to sing in a nightclub. One day she hopes to get a shot at Broadway, but for now she enjoys her job at the Lifeboat. The owner, Conner Mason, knows all the famous people in town and tells hilarious stories about them. She can trust Wyatt Logan, the band leader, and Rufus Carlin, the piano player, to have her back in every song (and follow her lead when she gets the urge to improvise). Plus she's good friends with Wyatt's wife Jessica, who runs the bar, and Rufus' girlfriend Jiya, who works as a waitress to pay for her mathematics degree

2. Lucy's mother, of course, does Not Approve. Lucy doesn't really care, especially since her sister Amy catches as many of her shows as she can (when she's not pounding the streets as an investigative reporter). The only downside is the way she insists on teasing Lucy about the man at table five. Sure, he's cute and all, but Amy's crazy if she thinks he's got a crush on Lucy. For Pete's sake, they haven't even spoken! (And sure, maybe sorta sings in his direction more often than not, but that's just because table five is, like, right in her line of sight. It doesn't mean anything)

3. Maybe a nightclub isn't the best place to do character studies, but Garcia Flynn likes the crowd at the Lifeboat (to draw, not to socialize. If he wanted to socialize, he, well, he wouldn't. The only interaction he needs is when Jiya brings more coffee). He's drawn all of the staff several times, not to mention the regulars. It makes a nice change from everything he saw and did fighting in the great war

4. But the longer he's there, the more his sketchbook is filled with one person in particular - the singer, Lucy. It's not, not personal or anything. She's just.. interesting to watch. Her face is so expressive, and she's got a great voice, and she interacts so well with the band and the audience and - yes. Yes, he's has a problem, and no, he will Not be doing anything about it, he would rather sing a duet with her in front of the whole club (wait, no, duets with Lucy are a terrible idea, better to just drown himself in Jiya's coffeepot)

5. Jiya's seen Flynn's sketchbook, and Amy's seen the way Lucy watches Flynn while trying to look like she's not watching him. They've Discussed the issue, and agree that they need to Take Matters into Their Own Hands. And if they enlist the entire club to get these saps to stop Pining over each other and Actually Talk (y'know, like normal human beings), well, what's a little matchmaking between friends?

‘Just let me love you and you can pretend to love me. I don't mind.’

Lucy blinked, a bemused grin tugging at her lips as she met Garcia's dopey smile. ‘But I don't have to pretend when it's already true.’

‘I know you're just trying to make me feel better,’ he said, flapping his free hand, ‘But that's okay, I'll always love you, Lucy.’

I'm assuming this means they get drunk and almost kiss and there's not a show or something called in vino veritas that I'm unfamiliar with

1. Late night chats with contraband vodka are Lucy and Flynn's Thing (there's only one Lucy misses, and that's because Future!Lucy was with him instead. Lucy's not jealous, of course not. What's there to be jealous of? It's still her, after all, you can't be jealous of yourself, and it's not like she and Flynn are involved or anything, but she still feels... Left out)

2. Flynn thinks that once they've Gotten Rufus Back their talks will be over. After all, he's just a stand-in, someone to keep her company when her friends can't. So he's understandably Surprised when she barges into his room after Rufus' We're Glad You're Un-Dead Party (which he skipped, not wanting to kill the mood) and flops on his bunk (he's like Wut and she's like Duh) and he's uncertain at first but she seems to genuinely? Want to be there? (Lucy: You're too tense allow me to ply you with alcohol Flynn: ...okay)

3. So now they have regularly scheduled Vodka Nights where they get sloshed and shoot the breeze and generally let off steam and it's... Nice. There's no pressure to have All the Answers or being the Only One standing between the the team and the Bad Guys, they can be as serious or goofy as they want. They can just... Be

4. One night Lucy confesses her fears that someday she's not going to be enough, that she's going to come across a situation she can't read and all her knowledge will fail her, getting them all killed - permanently. Flynn's inhibitions are much lower than usual thanks to the vodka, so he manages to put an arm around her without overthinking it (he'll freak out in the morning, but that's Future!Flynn's problem, along with the inevitable hangover) and reminds her that she's not alone - no one expects her to have all the answers, and whatever happens they'll figure it out together (and if nothing else he can almost always Shoot Something)
