Oskara, by Tony Foti
Yooo love me Twiâlek ladies who are wearing more than a bikini, amirite? I particularly love the pose, with that powerful âcoming to shoot youâ gun swing. I love ladies in heavy plated armor, whether itâs fantasy or scifi. đ
Definitely check out the artistâs portfolio if you love fun illustrations.

GEGG WARS + The Mincing Mockingbird Guide to Troubled Birds
Oskara the Fearsome Twiâlek
So - I had my chance to try out the tabletop game Star Wars: Edge of the Empire by playing the introduction scenario from the core set with some friends.
I tend to DM games so it was a long time since I actually played myself.
Due to what I assumed at first was bad luck I ended up with the card of Oskara the Twiâlek âbounty hunterâ.
A quick scan of her backstory revealed however that she basically bullshitted her way into business when a crime lord wanted to sell her sister into slavery.
Her first mission somehow ended with success and the crime lord hired her - forcing the girl to keep rolling with her bullshit story for what I assume were a few years.
And this is how I decided to play her.
A girl from the race most famous for itâs slender sexy dancers and slaves (wink) is gonna be the most badass twiâlek youâll ever encounter.
From the start her MO is shot first, ask questions later if at all. Negotiations are to be dealt with by telling the most outrageous story since the claim that the first Death Star was blown by a single fighter.
All with straight face and a barbaric warcry deafened by the sound of her heavy blaster firing at someone unlucky enough to stand in her way.
By the end her achievements included but were not limited to:
1) Convincing a part trader that weâre working for the big-bad and were sent to get the part he ordered (that we needed to escape).
2) Killing 5 out of 6 stormtroopers who tired to stop us.
3) Dealing with the guards who didnât want to let us into the hangar by putting a gun (heavy blaster mentioned above) and blowing it away.
âWhat? Itâs just a droid...â Said the Twiâlek chick while pulling a destroyed droid off the street.
4) Pretty much blowing up half of the hangar to deactivate the shield preventing our takeoff.
5) Dealing with one squadron of the Imperial TIE fighters before we jumped into hyperspace (tho I give it to the wookie - he dealt with the other squadron).
To sum it up out of 22 enemies Oskara the TwiâLek bounty hunter ended up with 11 eliminations and assists on half the remaining enemies.
Slightly wounded, exhausted and covered in blood and oil by the end.
I am glad I got to play as her and Iâd love to continue her story.
Twiâlek power and bullshit power ftw!
PS.
This is how I like actual strong female characters. Sheâs not the team leader but she knows her way around and what she does not know she fixes with a mixture of on the spot improvisation and pure, undiluted badassery.

Rynn has consumed my life

Oh my gosh! Please tell me a funny story from your edge of the empire stuff!
Gosh. I honestly should do a master post of what I adored about EoE because it is both one of my favorite game systems and campaigns my group has ever played and influenced what I want out of games moving forward. We, in fact, liked it so much we use Genesys now for our fantasy campaign and none of us really want to go back to the actual 5e. I still just call it dnd because most people don't differentiate well between the systems and otherwise my art wouldnât be seen.
One bit that stands out for me as a player was, on our squad's very first job, Oskara lost her leg. It was TRAGIC: She moved into melee combat to fish out our pilot and local flyboy Pash, and a random goon strained out on his drugs in the final round of combat. Somehow he managed to crit her, but sheâd had the shit beat out of her for the previous 5 rounds so he had a plus twenty injury roll. BOOM. LEG PUNCHED RIGHT OFF.
It was our group's first big injury and became both a hilarious joke and a reminder that the system won't outright kill you but by God, itâll cripple you.
At this point, the crew had known each other for an average of 2 weeks. Os and Pash worked together with Temo the Hutt and knew of each other, but no one was really settled into The Liberator, and only Pash was really on board with the whole âcrewâ thing. The second big point was we were absolutely dirt poor. The crew had maybe 100 credits to our names and ship repairs obviously have to come first.
The nice Twiâlek resistance doctor whose mining outpost we had just saved managed to quite expertly amputate the mangled limb and patched up her stump, but it was up to the crew to actually find a prosthetic thatâd fit. Mid-thigh, combat grade, and good enough quality to last between check-ups since we didn't have a doctor on board. After Pash wept at a crime boss to sell off the ryll shipment we got as payment, the group did manage to scrounge enough money to both repair the ship and get Os an OK leg that if you squinted was the right color. Not great, but it'd do.
The real joy of this was that she brought her leg back from the job. And no one told Pash. So now this group of gremlins has a severed leg - which Os got preserved purely for shits and giggles - and one scared baby pilot who hates any sort of injury or gore.
We absolutely, relentlessly, tormented Pash with it. The leg was mounted in various places around the ship. The leg was left on his pilot's chair when he got up to use the restroom late at night. Gael, straight up just ran at Pash while wearing only his underwear and just, tossed the leg at him. The leg, at the end of the campaign, had a motor in it and could jump/twitch/wobble about. We were going to attach it to the ships mouse droid and have it drag the thing about, SR-71 had plans to put droid bits on it.Â
It was chaos. We had to explain to various NPCs why we had a leg, and why it was the same color as Os. But not only was the leg great for comedy, the injury legitimately made for amazing character moments and firmly cemented my absolute love of the EoE/Genesys system. Because in Dnd, that leg wouldâve been one spell and done with.
