Nico di Angelo is of course paired with “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark”. Nico knows more than people would think, and keeps it to himself.
I was going to save this piece for last, so that my skills had gotten better first, but I am listening to “Mark of Athena” on audiobook, and just the thought of the kid lying in that bronze jar gave me the need to send him some love. He is (of course) my favourite character. Tormented gay teenager, can’t beat that. Probably because I often scare off people too, especially when I was a teen.
I love using symbolism in creative writing and drawings. Nico is flanked my the ghosts of Bianca and King Minos, whispering their advices to him. They are the songs who informs him about what is going on in the world. He is turned to Bianca, the one person he trusted. He is holding his sword in his left hand, as if to shield him from King Minos. Bianca holds her hand over his head, forming a crown of bones, proclaiming him as the Ghost King. King Minos is turned away from Nico, but looks towards the crown, clearly annoyed. In the background is a fox skull, refering to myself and my fox tattoo. On the grave stones are known Norwegian verses about life, death and religion.
I especially enjoyed the skulls. I have a degree in biology, and I like how skulls remind us both of birth with their sutures and death.
I might end up drawing a second with the lyrics that came out second place (Wearing our vintage misery. No, I think it looked a little better on me.)
Aaand it is three in the morning and I’ve been drawing for 10 hours straight... Drawing helps whenever I think too much about my problems. Focusing on something i like helps me unwind.
Here’s other Riordan characters and (mostly Fall Out Boy) lyrics: Masterpost
A visit to the vikingship museum in oslo this summer.. if you are ever in Oslo it should be a priority! The three ships exhibited and their treasures are truly outstanding with the most beautiful woodworking I've ever seen as well as some drool worthy embroidery. This is the osebergship. I'm sure the two women buried on it were draped in the most intricate jewelry, but unfortunately due to several grave robber non were found. Is is possible to be in love with an object? Or rather, in love with a with a ship? I believe I am. I’ve visited this museum countless times, to the point where it’ starting to get… awkward. You see, I’ve stood there in awe – glancing at The Oseberg ship in all its’ glory – my heart pounding heavily – my body trembling with admiration. And… It might just be me, but I think it is noticeable. At…
