AO3 has recently seen a wave of comments claiming to be made by the "AO3 Trust & Safety team", notifying you that your account has been restricted. These claims are not true. These comments are not being made by real AO3 volunteers and your account has not been restricted.
AO3 volunteers, including the Policy & Abuse committee, will never communicate with you through comments on your work. All important communications from AO3 will be sent through the email associated with your account. More general announcements will be posted on our official social media accounts or published as news posts on AO3 or OTW.org.
If you receive one of these comments, do not click on any of the links in it, reply to it, or interact with it in any way. The links in these comments lead to sites asking you to verify your identity by providing payment information. This is a common credit card scam. AO3 does not ever ask users to provide payment information, and the Policy & Abuse committee will never comment on your works asking you to "complete an identity verification process".
If you encounter one of these comments or believe your account has been compromised, please view the instructions under the cut!
We suggest that you review your account to verify that you're using a unique and secure password. Check out the advice from our Policy & Abuse committee on Protecting Your AO3 Account and Keeping Your Account Secure.
If you believe your AO3 account has been compromised for any reason (i.e. you received an email that your username changed), you can change or reset your password to ensure control of your account. Select the "Thread" button on the scammer's comment. This will take you to the specific comment page.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Policy Questions & Abuse Reports.
In the "Brief summary of Terms of Service violation" field, enter "Spambot".
In the "Description of the content you are reporting" field, enter "This is a spambot, their username is USERNAME."
Reporting in this fashion helps us auto-sort your report so that it can be handled as soon as a Policy & Abuse volunteer is available. To help us address reports about these types of bots as fast as possible, please only submit one report per account, and don't include multiple accounts in the same report.

Not sure why it's a new trend among fic readers to assume if the fic has not been posted within the week it's inappropriate to comment on it, like the fic has to be hot out of the oven to give feedback for.
I got a comment on a fic that is less than a year old and it was mostly an apology for being a comment on an "old fic" and how late they were in commenting.
Just comment on the fic. Doesn't matter how old it is.
That is so weird.... if a fic is more than a couple years old, I might not expect a reply because sometimes the author has left the fandom, or the account, sometimes they died (it has happened more than once), but I don't apologize for commenting, why would I?
thinking about the brilliant use of names in megamind. we know that metroman and megamind are the alter egos they took in adulthood, meaning they have everyday names they were raised under, but we never learn them. even the people closest to them, roxanne and minion, only ever use their chosen names. everything completely revolves around their roles as hero and villain. they literally have no identity outside of their personas.
My wife pointed out to me the other day that apparently most people were literally only taught how to say Sorry and not how to Apologize or even that they are different things so here.
If all you ever do is step 1, not only did you not apologize, but people will rightfully stop believing you and start getting pissed or hurt.

I continue to shape the story that sees Shouta and Hizashi dealing with ghosts and in the meantime with their messed up lives: a little ghost girl who has decided to take up residence with them and a nephew sent like a package by a desperate sister.
Shinso is Shouta's sixteen-year-old nephew. Like his uncle, he inherited the gift of perceiving ghosts and speaking to them, but unfortunately, they quickly realize he can hear them, which is why they follow him relentlessly. Shinso's power, which is a kind of ghost antenna, makes him a fully-fledged medium, and is stronger than Shouta's. The boy is so terrified of them that he now lives his life silently, isolated with headphones in his ears. He sleeps little and is perpetually angry, convinced he'll never have a normal life. Because of this, he's had problems at school, has no friends, and has started to become problematic at home, so his mother sent him to his uncle, hoping he could help him.
Shinso's parents are the kind of people who are afraid to ask about the supernatural, but this is the most help they've thought they could give their son, trusting Shouta and thinking that he lives alone and can let him work for a while, perhaps teaching him to "control" the "situation" by making him seem normal, as Shouta did as a boy (spoiler: yes, Shouta had simply learned over time to shamelessly lie to his family, pretending nothing was happening until he was old enough to leave).
Too bad Shouta and his family haven't seen each other in years, no one in the family knows about his relationship with Hizashi, and Shouta hasn't answered calls or texts for days, unaware that his nephew had been sent on a train straight to his home…
