Today we went and visit the viking ships, the Oseberg, the Gokstad and the Tune. ~ They’re not doing well. After 1000 years in the mud, which btw had conservated them pretty well, they don’t like the dry air in the museum, the vibrations of visitors’ steps, so they’re falling apart. ~ That’s so fucking terrible! ~ September will be Museum’s last opening month, then they’ll close, and for many years nobody will be able to visit them, if not to work on the reatuaration and the conservations. ~ They’ll build a new museum, close to the old one, with much better fitting microclimate, they’ll demolish the walls all around and then they’ll very slowly move the ships over to the new place 😱 that’s pretty crazy, isn’t it? ~ Keep crossing your fingers, and if you’re in Norway please go and visit’em before the end of september! ~ You may never have that chance again 😭 ~ #viking #vikings #raw_norway #vikingship #vikingskipshuset #navivichinghe #vichinghi #vikings_oficial #ship #shipstagram #shipspotting #museum #museumlover #history #norrøna #odin #thor #ragnarok #valhalla #funeralship #photooftheday #picoftheday #historie #historyfacts #restauration (presso Oslo, Norway) https://www.instagram.com/p/CS44lWSCtX3/?utm_medium=tumblr
