So I saw a post that was floating around since I follow a certain tag. It was a tag meme post and I suddenly feel like making one! Not to mention that @im-fairly-whitty tagged me to do this as well so now I have a valid reason to.
So here are Penco's ten favourite characters from ten different franchises!
1. Inuzuka Tsumugi from Sweetness & Lightning
She is without a doubt the best thing from this series. And out of all child characters below the age of thirteen she is one of the most realistic ones. With a sunny personality, a big mass of fluffy hair, a smile that can warm the heart and a big appetite for good food, no wonder I instantly loved her the moment I watched the trailer!
2. Imelda Rivera from Coco
Okay but I honestly cannot find a character in Coco that I hate (Ernesto is such a well-written villain and I am only mildly annoyed at Gustavo, as much as a douche he is) but as of now I have to pick her. Imelda Rivera is probably one of Disney's strongest female characters ever. I have to be fairly honest but it did take some time during my first viewing of the movie for me to like her. But then came La Llorona and I remember being so amazed that I jaw-dropped for a good few seconds. Her personality, her powerful voice, and her bond with Héctor are some of the many reasons why I love her so much.
3. Jacob Kowalski from Fantastic Beasts
I am a sucker for soft men in film and this sweet man is no exception. I mean, what's not to love from a man who was a soldier who decided to open a bakery because he wants people to smile? I remember instantly liking Newt and then I came to love Jacob soon after. Their friendship is just so wonderful to see onscreen. And his bond with Queenie is just so cute but also heartwrenching near the end of the movie that I legit cried my eyes out twice. I was so relieved to find him and his girl reunited and I can't wait to see him again in theaters!
4. Kurosawa Dia from Love Live! Sunshine!!
Aqours is honestly filled up to the rim with dorky characters that I cannot help but love every single member. But right now lemme talk about Dia.
What. A. Dork. Her overall personality is just really fun to see onscreen and her voice is one of my favourites from the franchise. Her bond with Ruby is so pure and I love her friendship with everyone, particularly with Kanan and Mari. She's basically the stern but dorky mom friend and I cannot love her more.
5. Amethyst from Steven Universe
I remember liking her back in the past but after the episode "What's Your Problem" I have come to love her. I think out of all the characters in the show I relate to her the most. Like her, I tend to react emotionally and bottle up my feelings. I also don't like talking about my feelings a lot because I personally don't want to burden my problems onto other people. It's almost frightening to see a part of me onscreen but thanks to that I can learn how to grow as a person and see the value in me despite my flaws.
6. Gouda Takeo from Ore Monogatari!!!
The true definition of a gentle giant, Gouda Takeo is legit my first ever anime crush. Just seeing the way he treats Rinko with so much love and respect makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. His friendship with Sunakawa is also really, really great. I am surprised that not many people talk about him and this series because he is such a sweetheart.
7. Doraemon from Doraemon
Who doesn't want to have a best friend from the 22nd century who has a magical 4-dimensional pocket that has every single tool you need for every single wish, in order for you to get your life together? Doraemon is basically that one friend who is always, Always, ALWAYS there for you through thick and thin but probably will still scold you because of how much he loves you. He is the childhood friend of many Asian kids, and I am no exception. Whenever I think of his kindness and his bond with Nobita I feel all warm but also melancholic because all of that reminds me of my mostly book and cartoon-centered childhood.
He is shaped like a friend and I have made it my goal that I will have at least one giant plush of him. Or a standard teddy bear-sized plush. His state of tranquility is a huge goal of mine.
9. Yotaro from Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu
A prime example of a fresh new start, Yotaro is a wonderful character that teaches you that you can be whatever you want to be, despite your background, as long as you have the passion and the determination. I also love the way he performs his rakugo and I love the bonds he has with the rest of the characters. Not to mention, much like Takeo, he's prime husband material (*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡
10. Matilda Wormwood from Matilda
Out of all the books by Roald Dahl, Matilda is definitely the one that I claim to be my favourite, followed by Danny, The Champion of The World and Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. She is super smart and witty but she's still a child, realistically. A very clever child at that. I also love, love, LOVE her bond with Jennifer Honey and if I could I'd definitely put her as an honorable mention but, alas, you can only have ten images in one post. I love every single version of her, from the book to the musical by Tim Minchin. Especially with the latter, she teaches us that no matter how small you are you can fight the monsters and the bullies. And sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty to finally get the happiness that you deserve.
Wow, that was lengthy! Okay, on to the tagging!
