Love is the only flower that will bloom even in the deepest darkness. It can also save a life in a fight against the shadow court...
"Amara!" someone screamed, but she couldnβt recall who the voice belonged to. Everything was spinning, her head felt dizzy and the voices seemed to come from a long distance rather than just next to her.
The fight. Shadow creatures chasing them. Screams and fire.
"Imtura" she whisperred. Was she alive?
Amara forced her eyes open and stood up. All around her layed bodies of her friends. She looked around, but couldnβt find her. And then, she noticed; a body was placed underneath a fallen tree.
She took off running and soon Imtura was freed from the trunk.
Amara shook her, screamed her name, but nothing worked.
"I failed... I am so sorry. Mother, Kade, now you... all dead... I could not protect you. I am too weak..." her whispers were mixed with tears.
Imtura held night guard when she heard her screaming. Again. It has been three days since that incident and Amara was acting weirdly ever since. Imtura knew she was scared of losing her, but hell, why isolate themself and stop talking to anyone?
Still, Imtura cared and wanted to help her.
She made sure there is no one nearby, and stepped down from the guard to go into Amara's tent.
When she got in, she saw the other orc sitting next to the tentβs wall, hugging her knees. Both her short swords layed close, and when she saw Imtura comming in, she put her hand on one of them. However, when she recognized her, Amara dropped the sword.
"Tough night again?" Imtura asked. Amara just eyed her, staying silent.
After a longer moment Imtura sighed and left the tent.
And thatβs what has been happening every night since that fight. Amara was screaming, pressumably because of nightmares, then Imtura visited her tent, but Amara did not talk, so Imtura just let go. It was not only that that seemed suspicious; Amara barely talked at all, and not to mention that she seemed to stop having any feelings towards Imtura. It all happened so suddenly, the warrior started considering different options, one of them being... no, that would be impossible. Amara could not be corrupted! Ah, so bad Threep wasnβt around, he would know for sure that she wasn't.
Imtura was snapped back to reality by Mal, who came to take over the guard. After joking a couple of minutes she got back to her tent, and fell asleep.
The next morning, after they gathered things and ate a quick breakfast, they moved on through the woods. For a couple moments Imtura just eyed Amara, who was walking at the back of the group, her swords strapped to her back as usually. But when the other female caught her starting, Imtura decided to talk to her.
"You have been awfully quiet since that last fight. Is everything fine?β
Amara just nodded, then sped up a little bit, just so she could escape from the unwanted conversation, but Imtura got to her and carried on:
"You know, I am here for you if you need it. I always will be. Amara, I lov-"
She was cut off by Amara's hand strongly gripping her throat.
"LIES! ALL OF THIS ARE FILTHY LIES!"
She gripped Imtura even harder, as shadowy flames swallowed her body.
Imtura was not the one to be scared, but this... this did terrify her. She loved Amara, and seeing her enslaved by the shadows... made her furious.
Imtura managed to lower the other's grip on her as she twisted her palm, but Amara was stronger; she managed to pull away and take her swords in hands.
When Mal saw what was going on, he reached for a dagger, but Amara snapped and everyone, except her and Imtura fell on the ground, unconcious.
"What have you done to them?!" the warrior yelled, but the other female did not respond, instead she just charged forward. Imtura swiftly took both of her axes in hands and parried Amara's blows. She did not want to hurt her, so she had to stay in defense.
Imtura dodged, as Amara swung one of her swords again. It hit the wood and the orc had to take a moment to get it back and thatβs when Imtura took the other one of her swords and traded her axe for it.
"Donβt you think itβs more fair this way?" she grinned, but the smile was wiped off of her face as Amara took another blow at her.
They were in the middle of the woods by now and Imtura had a risky idea how to finish all this...
She backed the other orc to a big oak tree, then punched her in the gut with her fist.
"Sorry, baby, but this is better than cutting your head off" she muttered.
As Amara bowed in pain, Imtura yanked her sword and threw it away. She then backed her to the tree, and looking her in the eyes said:
"Amara, this isn't you, snap out of it, do you hear me?!"
In response, the female just groaned and tried to break free.
Imtura took her face in her hands, and forced her to look straight in her eyes.
"Amara! Listen to me! This thing, this is not the real you! The real you is strong, honorable but also carring and that is who I fell in love with, not this shadowy imitation!" and then she kissed her.
The kiss lasted only a few seconds and when Imtura pulled away, Amara seemed to finally see clearly and be back to her real self. She stumbled to the ground, and started crying.
"I am so sorry, please please forgive me! I - they - they showed me your death and I just wanted to protect you... becaue I love you as well, Imtura..."
Imtura just kneeled by her side and hugged her tightly.
They will destroy the shadow court, those monsters will pay. For what they done to Amara and thousands of others.
And they will do it together.
