 Saying someone is not part of a community is not instantly considered Gate Keeping. If someone were to say ‘im straight but im an ally so I want to be part of the LGBTQ community’ there is a valid reason there to say no. The lines can seem sticky and it can be difficult to know what really counts so don’t be afraid to ask me or anyone else more questions.

yes! that’s pretty much my headcanon now thanks to my friends. the nations are immortal and more than human...but they are all essentially made by us. we created them, these beings out of dust and the magic of our beliefs. they bleed normally, but when they die (permanently, not those other instances where they can come back from fatal injuries) it’s literally them Returning to Dust. besides the whole Literally Personifying Land aspect, i definitely love how the dirt metaphor fits in well with not only abrahamic religious traditions but also with quite a number of creation stories in other religions/cultural narratives. the whole thing about humanity being made from dirt, clay, mud or ash etc is quite common. as a kid i’d read about the chinese goddess nüwa making humans out of mud. (and even from the non-religious standpoint? humans are dust. stardust, according to modern astronomers. all the organic matter in human bodies born is from dying stars billions of years ago.) and since humans made the nations in their image, it’s entirely apt and poetic that their creation stories mirror the very cultures that spawned them. so yes. the dirt children are literally Made From Dirt—with the life breathed into them by their people.
