#option two

I like this episode a lot. I love that Ward is being found out sooner rather than later, and I love everything with Skye this episode. And this is the biggest reveal of Fitz’s feelings for Jemma to date. There are other points prior in the series where it’s hinted at: 

FZZT Fitz flipping out and preparing to jump out of a plane for Simmons and his expression at the end.

The Hub His moments with Jemma and his talks with Ward.

The Well His attention to Jemma’s fear and he snaps at Randolf when he hits on her.

The Bridge His jealousy of Jemma’s crush on Mike.

Seeds His mention of Jemma being smarter.

T.R.A.C.K.S. His concern for Jemma when she’s taken out by the dendrotoxin grenade and he seeks her out when he knows she’s upset and their hug.

Yes Men He briefly glances at Jemma when Coulson describes Lorelei as the woman who embodies all men’s desires.

End of the Beginning His jealousy at the budding flirtation between Trip and Jemma.

Turn, Turn, Turn His determination to save her.

Providence His insistence in not wanting things to change and his continued animosity towards Trip.

But in this episode, the audience is finally given confirmation that he has feelings. The camera pans from his longing looks to Jemma. Ward calls him out on it. Jemma’s confrontation in the Quinjet. When I first watched the episode, I felt like that was a huge turning point. I remember feeling incredibly validated for shipping these two when I realized this relationship was turning into a “will they/won’t they.” 

In this episode, 1x19, the team is battling Marcus Daniels, a man who brings darkness wherever he goes. In 5x18, the team battles the Remorath, aliens with a similar notion.

In 1x19, Ward says he killed Garrett, and Fitz’s response is “good.” In 2x19, Jemma wants to kill Ward and plans to. In 4x19, Leopold wants everyone in the resistance dead. 

In 1x19, Trip tells Koenig that the good guys won back in the day, and they’ll do it again. In 4x19, Trip is on the side of the Resistance, helping Simmons. 

In 1x19, Fitz complains about Trip to Ward, calling him insufferable. Ward knows why. In 2x19, Fitz gossips with Simmons about Ward and Kara, scoffing at their relationship. In 3x19, Fitz calls Milton, Jemma’s ex-boyfriend, the absolute worst. In “Toldja,” Fitz chastises an alien for hitting on Jemma. 

In 1x19, Ward tells Fitz that the world is falling apart around them and encourages Fitz to tell Jemma how he feels. In 2x19, Jemma and Fitz are having nice moments again, and Jemma’s borderline flirting with him. I think she still doesn’t know if she has feelings for him or not, but she’s entertaining the idea. In 3x19, Jemma calls Fitz her boyfriend offhandedly. In 4x19, Leopold is terrified of the world falling apart around them and for Ophelia’s well-being. Jemma also sees the fake world falling apart around them and is steely determined to get Fitz back. In 5x19, the Lighthouse is falling apart around them, and FitzSimmons are fearful of their separation.

In 1x19, Simmons and Trip partner up to help Audrey. In 4x19, Trip and Jemma partner up to go on a side mission. 

In 1x19, during their talk, Skye asks Ward, “You think I don’t have skeletons?” In 3x19, Daisy does violent acts in Hive’s name. In 5x19, Daisy literally digs up her mother’s skeleton.

In 1x19, Skye discovers Ward is Hydra. In 2x19, the team reluctantly work with Ward to use his Hydra contacts. In 4x19, Resistance Ward tells Daisy that he’d hate for her to think of him of the real Ward, a real son-of-a-bitch. 

I really love how Skye handles finding out Ward’s Hydra. She freaks out like a normal person and then gets herself together to keep the ruse going. She doesn’t do it perfectly, but she does what she can as any person in that situation. 

I think this episode is great for certain character moments. I didn’t even mention Coulson and his heartbreaking relationship with Audrey. Because of these beautiful insights, I think it’s up there with the others. Not to mention Skye’s discovery was stunning.

AKA there is a whole lot of explosions going on as the whole base attack by the Primitives in Season 3 is going to look like a cake walk.

And the attack begins.

The you’ve got to be kidding me, look on Elena’s face there is they’ve come face to face with the attackers and she realizes she didn’t break the loop killing Ruby.

KRONK!   Everyone’s second favorite mustached General is back to reveal what those protocols are for and shed light at to how much was knowing about what is coming.  

Don’s mess with Jemma.  This is the only shot of her in the promo and she looks to be in a lab/medical.   Its unknown if she’s off camera from Fitz/Deke or if she gets separated from them and is fighting with Daisy or Elena’s group.
