OPENING DOORS OPENING MINDS! Had to squeeze in some hours on the TuTchT drawing board to give Femi Oguns the kind of “galactic impact” artistic treatment his clients get on the regular. hahaha. Slightly tongue-in-cheek but wholly sincere at heart. I love this guy. Mr. Oguns was awarded the prestigious Special Jury Prize from the British Independent Film Awards earlier this week for his creation of London’s Identity School of Acting and Identity Agency Group. I’ve tried to regularly throw shine on Identity and Mr. Oguns’ work since I first came across them 5 or 6 years ago. Mr. Oguns saw an extreme lack of diversity on the British screens, stages, and among the ranks of young actors being admitted into the UK’s prestigious acting schools. So… he started his own. The rest is history. Nights like tonight when his students/clients are simultaneously opening in some of the biggest projects of the year (Star Wars & “Belleville” in London’s West End) show us just how vast this history is becoming!
