By my blade, you will be the last?
Just gonna put my thought here, it's not that deep, and it's not a slander post.
I wonder if Buggy truly fears Mihawk. Since his DF is the natural enemy of swords, would he really be that intimidated by the other? Unless a haki-imbued sword can cut him, it remains that he fears Mihawk because the man is teaming up with Crocodile. In an SBS, it is mentioned that Buggy can escape Doflamingo’s birdcage, which might be imbued with haki(?).
Then again, we are still deep in the dark about the true extent of both Mihawk's and Buggy's power. Perhaps not knowing fully what Mihawk is capable of is also what sets the fear in Buggy.
Still, cannot help but think of a scenario of how the phrase “by my blade you’ll be the last” threat is not just an empty bluff, if we imagine Buggy really cannot be cut, even if the sharp stuff is imbued by haki.

Buggy’s head was still hooked on the wall of the ‘meeting room’. Frankly, Buggy’s tired of being the punching bag. But he really could not help it when it’s only him and Mihawk left in the room, with Mihawk sipping wine nonchalantly on the sofa across from him. Wine and sofa, which Buggy has chosen and bought (raided) for himself. Buggy's pettiness won over his self-preservation instinct. So he picked up the only weapon he could muster, his tongue.
“I heard you don’t fight the red-hair piece of shit anymore because he lost his left arm.” He hissed as he felt the cold air brush his open gum and cursed Crocodile’s hook, which knocked out three teeth today. He did not like to bring the red-hair into conversation, and he swore he really did not care about that guy. But even he once thought that was such a dick move, what Mihawk did, not that he would ever admit it out loud.
“Yes. What about it?”
Buggy despised that, that flat-ass and haughty tone the other man always used.
“You’re just afraid people will find out you could lose to a one-armed swordsman, aren’t you?”
That is the last thing he could say before he would always remember that any sharp weapon can be turned into a blunt one in an instant.

Anyway, this is a long way to say I had a revelation that perhaps the “by my blade you’ll be the last” threat that Mihawk uttered is because he is going to use it by plummeting Buggy with the non-sharp side and hilt. Though he will remove any evidence of this deed, to preserve his honour as a swordsman.
On the other hand, there are myriad ways the clown emperor can be harmed, but let's not dive deeper into that.

On a tiny note, I am wishing for an update in which the cross guild executives are now tolerating Buggy, so he is no longer tortured, at least physically. But we gotta wait until the Elbaph arc is finished, probably.
