mihawk is punctual and a good communicator. he excels in his chosen art of swordplay, and he knows when to bargain. he keeps a level and collected mind even when i don't.

Very interesting prompt idea! Definitely want this story to be further into the Cross Guild’s creation. Like maybe a few weeks or months after the Final Arc of One Piece when everything is said and done. Or if there’s more time between arcs. So Crocodile and Mihawk can learn more about Buggy. Instead of just a shallow knowldge the former Warlords have seen and heard of him at the formation of Cross Guild.

This goes vice versa with Buggy finding out more stuff about Mihawk and Crocodile. I will say that it has to be after the manga panels where Buggy expresses an revived spark to after the One Piece (Thank you Shanks for pissing off the clown so much that he goes “You know what!? I am the same status as you are. To the world we are in equal stength. I’m not letting you leave me behind after you deicded not to after the One Piece when we were younger. I’m gonna get there first and laugh in your face Fuck you!”) Buggy gathering his courage and being brave in the face of danger coming from Crocodile and Mihawk had to change their option of Buggy for better or worse.

(Hopefully Buggy will realize that he doesn’t need the One Piece to show that he is powerful enough to truly accept that people can love him for who he is. It seems he can only accept what he think is shallow praise at the moment. Oh my funny clown with a imposter syndrome and inferior complex)

Backtracking a bit before getting more into the prompt idea. Love when other people show Buggy diving deeper into circus acts and motifs than just a shallow scoop in how they view the flashy clown.

(Still haven’t diecided in my own AUs if Buggy has circus motifs in his pirate crew because he wants to show people that he can wear it like a badge of honor or he felt like he had no other option)

Although… it could be more complicated in that its a mixture of both options. Even if Buggy does like the circus and the flashy whimsy shows. Even if the clown does enjoy the acts him and his crew puts on.

Buggy probably believes and maybe it's been proven enough in the blue-haired pirate’s mind that nobody was or will take him seriously ever. And if he doesn’t use the clown motif in his pirate crew, then the mocking and pointing out his nose that he surely has faced will be so much worse. With a circus crew, Buggy could blend in nicely between them and not get picked on for his nose. I’m getting off topic with good angst. Back to Buggy doing circus things. Enjoying the idea of Buggy doing acrobatics, juggling, knife throwing, tightrope walking, comedy skits (He might just be full of dad jokes because of the Roger Pirates... R.I.P. to those awkward moments in One Piece Live Action, where Orange Town residents were literally told by a sign from a Buggy pirate telling them to laugh… Holy stars that wasn’t Buggy’s best moment), and acting as the ringmaster for his crew.

Now back to the prompt. There is a few of ways this prompt idea spirals into a story in my brain:

Option One: Crocodile and Mihawk hasn’t apologized to Buggy for what they did. So both of them are denying what they are feeling way worse then if the former Warlords all talked it out about what happened in the early days. The denying reaches a point where Mihawk is like fuck it. Buggy is very confused as he should be. But Buggy isn’t complaining if it means he won’t get in trouble that much.

I feel like this is a big Toxic Yaoi route. Things haven’t been mended the best. So it will lead into problems down the road and if not address then it will keeps snowballing until it reaches a breaking point. Mihawk and Crocodile may have been loving this time around. Doesn’t mean Buggy will lower his guard towards the former Warlords because how he supposed to know they truly has changed?

For all he knows things can flip back to the way it was beforehand in one wrong move. Of course if the end goal is for Cross Guild Polycule to be together - together at the end, then this route will be a very long story wise, I meant it with long slow-burn. This route feels like it would lead up to a boil in where Buggy snaps and yells at both of them for leaving things unresolved. There’s so many things that need to be said. That is as much as I thought up this route because I want to get on to the other ideas I had for this story (Sorry if this is getting too long for you Anon!) Dubbing this route: Big Angst.

Option Two: Mihawk and Crocodile have apologized, but they way they did it is more of a begrudgingly way. Whether its through their actions and subtle way they speak about him, changing to be more positive or the two former Warlords directly telling Buggy that they were wrong about him in a nonchalant way. I mean those two men take their reputation and pride very seriously from what I’ve seen of them.

Of course, Buggy probably won’t believe them right way or what he hears from his crew when they say that Crocodile and Mihawk has changed their opinion of him. It will take some time for him to come to terms that Mihawk and Crocodile respects him now. He could never expected it to happen. Definitely don’t think it will take as long or as much of that deep angst as the first option for Buggy, Crocodile, and Mihawk to get together - together. Of course, there will be bickering and clashes where miscommunication rears it's ugly head. But the three co-leaders are taking step by step to understand each other.

There will be times that their relationship with take a step or two backwards before it leaps like three steps forward. But it’s important to the relationship that they are all trying their best.

That’s it for option two as there’s one more option I thought up. Dubbing this route: The More Realistic Out Of The Three Ideas That Makes Sense To My Mind About Their Canon Personalities.

Option Three: Crocodile and Mihawk actually sits Buggy down and point-blank tells the clown that they are sorry for what they did it him.

Whether this talk happens before or after what happens in the prompt idea (Of course the latter option will lead to more conflict before being resolved) I'm a kicker for the full-heartly style as well for any ship that I like. Love @blackroseraven2023's scenes in their fanfics where Crocodile and Mihawk apologize like that! There is much better communication between the three Cross Guild co-leaders. But still miscommunication.

So when this happens, Buggy is way more happy about it. By the sea deity he doesn’t know how he does it. But the clown is clearly winning and he has no problem soaking up the love that Mihawk and Crocodile are giving him. Just like Option one and two, they need to take steps by steps to understand each other. But this route they aren’t focus on themselves only, they are learning without fear or really any distrust interrupting, and the trio is trying to a healthy couple as an vampire-inspired aloof swordsman, an sandman that should be considered as a mafia boss, and an cult-leader clown with many disorders can have. That’s all I want to say. Dubbing this route: The Least Toxic Route.
